you're talking about the apple logo in 3D ?
have just copy paste comments and pics from post 40 from insanelymac, just above the latest pics.
It's a logo from a G4 panel cut and attached with a screw but underneath, between the logo and the mobo tray acryl panel is a shape of the logo made with a piece of mesh panel.
If I have understood your question, this is the effect given by the external acryl panel which covers the apple logo .

I want to do mine and the wifes case. Have just add some lights inside the apple logo in 3D. Not bad specially with the door cover up. Still have to organize the 5 blue lights correctly. Pics follow... |

After a lot of search, I finally found and bought two from ebay . . Can't wait to try them. sata power & data backplate For those who have no black HDD's Apple connectors. Edit 09/09/08 : small probl. There are male connectors. Have found female connectors, well hope there are, will see upon arrival. |

I use five of them. ;D
Edit : the final version contains seven leds because I made the leaf lighted also in 3D
