Did a quick walkthrough on how to mod your system profiler: HereMy guess is that system profiler gets the info from AppleSMBIOS. Using a different AppleSMBIOS.kext or compiling a new kext from source may be one solution. The source for AppleSMBIOS is available from Apple.

Hello aqua-mac, I have the following question; after reading the dual-boot installation on insanelymac.com, I was wondering if it is possible to install osX86 with a flashed video card on one HDD and afterwardds to install windows xp on an second HDD ?

Hi bb,
You can certainly put OSX on one disk and windows on another. I have this setup, I just go into the bios and select the HDD that I want to boot from.

I use this method also. To the MBR I err on the side of safety and disconnect the alternate hard drive when installing the second opperating system. This maybe over cautious, but its what I do.

I also use two drives one OSX and the other XP i have my BIOS pointing at the XP hard drive but use the XP bootloader(Chain0) to point at the OSX install.. turn the PC on, selected OSX and then it boots... if i dont select anything.. then it boots into XP.

Have emailed a complete System profiler to you from 10.4.9. Okay, I got it. Now I didn't think this would work as I have already tried most versions of SPPlatformReporter from 10.4.6 through 10.4.9 and non worked! As expected it gave the "There was an error while gathering this information" error. So now here is the interesting bit (for me anyhow), I replaced: /System/Library/SystemProfiler/SPPlatformReporter.spreporter/Contents/MacOS/SPPlatformReporter (just the binary) with a version known to work 6.9 (from 10.4.2 for Intel I think) and Ta Da! it's working ;D No more "Processor Features". /System/Library/SystemProfiler/SPPlatformReporter.spreporter/Contents/MacOS/SPPlatformReporter (just the binary) with a version known to work 6.9 (from 10.4.2 for Intel I think) Where can I find it ? The working version ? Thank you.
