Thespottedelf, 9600 cannot work yet as it is G94 whereas 9800 GTX is G92. G92 is the latest chip set that Leo is aware of I am afraid. You will have to hang on till 10.5.6 probably for that one. horserama, Thanks for the thanks! wilcok, I will check on the 9500 GT chipset to see if it is OSX compatible and get back. OK, this should work as it is G92. Download THIS, then follow the guide HERE to get Core Image and Quartz Extreme.

Hey Aquamac, thnx for the effort. I really appreciate it. I followed the instructions every step of the way and I then added aquas 10.5.4 nv files to extensions. It is a clean install of Leo4all with kalyway 10.5.2 audio packages to make the sound work (think it's an accomplishment for a noob) I now have transparency in the dock but Core Image is Software and QE is Not Supported Loving Mac and wish I could get it to work.... Advice please; does nvinject go into extensions because there is no difference with or without? (did Repair Permissions and Clear Extensions Cache with OSx86 Tools) Should I do the Kalyway 10.5.3 Combo update? Any other suggestions?

It will not work with NVInject or Natit in your extensions folder, please make sure you have neither in there. You could try updating to 10.5.3 COMBO UPDATE.
Good Luck.

Still struggling; I now have QuartzGL supported which makes sense since it is software supported for Core Image. My confusion; earlier I have seen that aquamac said that it is running in OpenGL (software) but on the screen shots aquamac posted Core Image and Quartz Extreme is supported (hardware accelerated. I am missing something somewhere..... Aquamac; 10.5.? are you running and where can I get Rittalins Leopard? Last time I went 10.5.3 I broke Leopard and hesitant to try again...

wilcok, I have full support hardware accelerated QE & CI. I am currently running 10.5.5, but have had full hardware support since 10.5.2. That is the earliest incarnation of OSX that will support the 9800 GTX. No card flashing is needed, just install 10.5.2 then the apple graphics update and my 10.5.2 kexts to get rid of the white menu problem. You need to make GFX Strings - instructions here. If you want, you can then update to 10.5.4. To get Ritalins Leo, you will need a Leopard retail disk, then follow this thread. It's a long read, but you won't regret it, you can end up with a install that is the nearest thing to real Leopard that you will find.

Still not working..... This time installed Leo4all V3. (Cannot use nvinject because get black screen that says I must restart or shutdown. ) I have then installed the apple driver update and did a restart I have then added the 10.5.2 files as per aquamacs instructions and repaired the permissions followed by a restart. After restart I followed the GFX strings instructions with the 9500GT files prepared for me by aquamac (thnx again) Once again repaired permissions and restarted After restart again the black screen that says shutdown or restart...... Please help!!!

Thank you but the only reason I mention nvinject is because of blanktruth's slight adoption of aquamac's install method which worked on a similar motherboard as mine with kalyway. Just another one of the around twenty variations I have tried. However with my last two installs I tried Kalyway 10.5.2 as well as Leo4all v3 acording to aquamacs recommendations and therefore without nvinject or natit. As soon as I apply the GFX strings the pc starts up and then goes into black screen with a message in the line of shutdown or restart.... Doesn't make sense, there must be a way.... Can't see why Nvidia do not release Mac drivers but then again around 23% of Vista errors are due to Nvidia drivers :-)

wilcok, After doing another search for 9500 GT it seems that at least some use the G96-300 chip. I am sure that this is the problem. G96 chips are not supported yet in OSX. I am sure they will be at some point as I think apple will end up using the cards in the mac pro. Until then it is not going to work I am afraid with CI & QE. Check Here

10.5.4 would not work either or 10.5.5 that I am using as there is still no proper support for chips above G92. However, I have heard that there is more support for new cards such as FX 260/280 in Snow Leopard. That means things should work out soon.
I see no reason why you could not boot the retail disk using the DFE method.

Thank you for the feedback. Just sold the card and looking for something else, even 2nd hand; have to get Leopard to work, can't wait for Snow Leopard (next year only?) since I still have a lot to learn (windows buff switching over to Mac). What will the DFE make Leopard see the card as, in order for it to work? Don't understand the whole DFE thing yet. Is it like a new BIOS type of layer between the OS and the BIOS like EFI?

Hey Aquamac, I've read your instructions to get my 9800GTX+ (Gainward) working on my AMD Hackintosh but QE/CI does not work with the EFI Strings... I have Leo4All v4.1 10.5.5 / Kernel 9.4.0 XNU-ToH. Does not work either on 10.5.4... I've tried to put your KEXT pack in my Extensions folder but it goes to a KPanic immediatly at startup. I don't know what to do Any ideas ? Thanks, Gabriel

Hi Gabri, That is weird, all of a sudden, lots of installs that worked before are no longer working, but I have had no problems! Did you repair your kext permissions - you can use your install disk to do that, pop it in and when you get to the install bit select Disk Utility then repair permissions and reboot. You could try installing these kexts: 10.5.5 Graphics Kexts & Framework.
