Hi Joe,
What is that north bridge cooler? Do you have a link? Glad your fans worked out!

Joe, That's just cool! I really like the Crazy Cool offered on some of the Gigabyte boards too but no love for us mATX users I'd say you found the perfect mate for the Zalman. Keep up the great work! Nik

its a Noctua NC-U6 Dual Heat pipe. Sorry I can't post a link I'm posting from my iPhone, can't do copy and paste yet. I bought it from overclockers UK you'll find it in the " other cooling " section. I also fitted a Antec spot fan behind the Apple CPU cover to blow air over the RAM and MOSFETS.
I'm thinking about picking up a Noctua CPU HSF to match the NB just measuring up. The case fans are also Noctua I really can't hear them and they cool so well my whole case seems cold to the touch.

Just ordered one of these for the south bridge.... OK... it may be a little over kill but my 8200 is gonna hit 4ghz stable with this cooling setup... Its designed to stay out of the way of GFX cards.... granted its ment for the northbridge... but with a M-ATX case its gonna work out great. It's a Thermalright HR-05 IFX SLI you can view it here: www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-044-TR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=399/url]OC UK are out so i got it from Tekheads... i think thats all my cooling sorted.. roll on the 9800GTX.. I've had the southbridge cooler for a almost a week now but the MOSFET coolers have been a nightmare.... May i suggest you do not buy from coolestpc.co.uk.... I paid £10 for citylink 9 days ago and only recieved my goods today! and whats worse! after 9 days of waiting they send me PLL coolers!! They have refunded my £10 carriage costs but not gotten back to me as why they cant tell the difference between the two coolers!

Hi, Great topic, and forum. I've got a MacPro case that I'm hoping to put my Bad Axe 2 in. First problem is the case has come away at the back, hoping JB weld will sort that. Next problem, and hopefully someone here can help is how do I remove this shelf, and the fan mount at the top? Image from Zapro's excellent (but down) guide. Thanks for any info.

Hi Netrogen,
Welcome to aquamac forums. Removing that shelf is a real pain. The fan support is pop riveted at the top and the bottom is held by hidden nuts or rivets if I remember rightly and no matter how many screws I took out (and there were a lot!) I never seemed to get any nearer to removing the thing. In the end I got some tin snips and took it out in pieces, after drilling out the pop rivets I could see.
The latch mechanism has some hidden, rectangular, sliding, sprung loaded clips that need to be accessed from behind. You need to remove the bottom part of the shelf to do that. I'm afraid it is a fairly long job, I seem to remember slicing my finger on the fan assembly and dribbling blood over a nearby white sofa. I was not popular that night! You will need a special splined screw driver tip to take out the screws that hold the shelf to the case.
Good Luck.

Cheers Aquamac, looks like I'll do the same and tin snip/ dremel the fan mount out.
I know what you mean about the number of screws, as the bottom of my case has come away my first plan was to remove all the screws holding the 'skin' of the case on and then bend back to shape and jb weld the offending couple of screws - the amount to fixings I've removed so far is amazing, and I'm no nearer to loosening the case!
Will have a go tomorrow, may be back for more details about the shelf.
Thanks for your help.

Hey Netrogen, Good luck on your mod right here is the best place for help.. Aquamac and others really helped me out with mine.. You can remove the Fan Mount.. i was able to get mine off with almost no scuffs... Its tricky, like AquaMac said there is alot of screws and pop rivets.. once i removed all the screws and pop rivets it still doesn't come out nice due to its shape.. i cut away at it with a dremel and then bent it back and forth until i was able t rotate it slighty.. then i was able to knock out the last pop rivet with a screw driver and a bar blade.. I may have some photos.. I'll take a look and upload what i find..

OK then guys....
My Mosfet heat sinks arrived today after almost a month waiting! guess what? They dont fit! LOL! MOSFETs on a standard ATX mobo must be bigger! the are tiny on the DS2R! so I ordered 12 I'll happily give 6 away.... If you use a normal ATX mobo and fancy a little extra cooling PM me. cover the postage and i'll mail them to you.
Regardless... I still had my Thermalright North bridge cooler to fit on my southbridge and i also needed pull through my second 6-pin PCIX cable ready for my 9800GTX.
I've used a Fujifilm F810 digicam and taken step by step photos of taking my MacPro apart right the way down to removing the Mobo.. then some images me fitting the Thermalright and a total step by step re-assembly.
I dont have the bloody digicam cable so i cant share until the weekend... but i might wait until Monday and upload once i have the 9800GTX installed.
The Termalright was a little big for the southbridge and so required a little attention so that it didnt sit on any of the capacitors.
Its in, looks great! also got my spot fan hooked up cooling the RAM.
Temps have dropped a couple degrees but its all in prep for my final OC.
My 7800GT going at a good price. and let me know if you fancy a couple/few MOSFET heatsinks.
I'll update soon.
