The 9800GTX arrived today.. its great! so so so so quite!! hasnt gone over 50'c yet so im happy.. I ordered the BFG 9800GTX cost me £205 inc VAT. What i got was a great surprise.. I opened the box to find the gfx card sleeve had been opened (warrenty sticker ripped) and then resealed (new factory sticker over the old but dif shape) The Box when i recieved it was factory sealed with plastic.... Slide the card out and its the BFG 9800GTX OC! note the OC sticker on the fan (standard 9800GTX has a BFG sticker) I've loaded it up took at look with GPZ and it is infact the OC model 700mhz rather the 625mhz.. well chuffed!! iPhone photos so there crap! OC to my supprise (overclockers dont stock this model! yet they sent it me) Fitted! note.. i tilted the southbridge cooler as it was resting on a capacitor so it still covers the whole south bridge but allows for greater cool fan surface area... LOL Thought I'd show the back... I'm happy as pie! BUY ONE!!! no OSX yet thou :-( i have two working 10.5.2 installs on that HackMac and I cant use them....for now. J.

Thanks for the quick response Aquamac I have been trying to follow your diagrams even before I asked for help. Well this is whats happening: Only the power btn is working. After cutting and solidering the SATA connecter head to the usb connecter, first nothing happened when I put a usb flash drive on the front usb, then after moving around the -ve and +ve wires, when plugging the usb flash drive everything connected to the computer through usb stops working. the led light on the usb flash drive keep flashing.

OK. Disconnect on one side, the + & - data to start with, that will disable 1 USB port. Plug your USB flash drive into one of the front ports and try to determine which one is connected. I the flash drive does not mount, then reverse the + & - data on that side only. If the flash drive mounts then you can work on the second port.
Let me know how that goes.

Do you have the 3.3volt, 12 volt & 5 volt connection setup yet. Yes thats setup already could that be the reason why the other usb port is not working?

The led light is bright white and the power btn is working as well. I haven't connected the audio and firewire yet, because I wanted to first get the usb ports working and the other thing Im looking for a cheap fw 800 PCIe card (I am in the UK).

Providing your earths are on the bottom 3 connections at the odd end, you only have 4 data connections to worry about. You don't want to go anywhere near the two red connections at the other end as you could do damage. So knowing that, put your flash drive in one of the usb sockets and try changing the 4 data wires around till the drive mounts.

The side that is working is the one with three connections the other one seems to be behaving badly. Don't worry m8 I will get it working one way or the other. Let me try and connect the Audio then I will go back to the usb again as long as I have got one usb port working for the time being I think I will be ok. Thanks a million for your help. Can I upload some images of my mod?
