That is extremely neat, Like it was meant to be that way! You could always fit with one of the monster CPU coolers that are available if you did not want to go the watercooling route. Airflow should be good too as you have the fans in all the right places. Have you connected up the front/back fans yet?

Joe, congrats on a job well done. As Aqua says, that cooling looks very effective.

I'm in to mind as weather to stick with the Apple fans or buy 3 Noctua fans... biggest problem being i cant find any 4-pin fan to molex connection adapter cables or even any sort of 4-pin fan adapters at all... if i hardwire the Apple fans then its gonna be a wind tunnel! The Noctua fans are the best on the market and i feel at default RPM they maybe more effective then the Apple fans..
So really i'm undecided... but for now.. no the fans are not connected.. I've not OC'd it since its been on the new mobo so my temps never hit higher then 37 in CoreTemp.
Aquamac what Firewire 800 card are you using? i quite fancy a PCI-X card if there available..
I'll be looking at replacing my 7800GT for a full length PCB card. however... i have a feeling that the Mac cards are longer as i understand the 8800GTX is 275mm long? i measured up and that what run the full length into the PCI guide holder on the front fan.
I'm off work on Wednesday so i'm gonna be doing a little more to it then.
thanks for the kind words i'm very happy with it.

Here is the Belkin PCIe card that I used. Works a treat with the front panel, just plug it in and away you go. Do not connect the Auxiliary power to the card as it will be supplied with auxiliary power by the front panel.

ouch! £83 is the cheapest i can find it! I may have to wait on that one :-) seem to be pumping alot of cash into to this as is right now.
I'll get the USb working on the front for now. I'd use that more. but thanks I've bookmarked it.
Any opinion on my fan query?

I just updated my DS2R Bios to F8b from F7 and now the CPU fan runs at 2500RPM rather then 1800rpm.. My smart control wont slow it down ether... how annoying! Plus in my BIOS i still cant set the RAM timing! like i did on my DQ6.. you mentioned way back about using a certain BIOS?

I find nothing on the G7 you referred too? its a beta BIOS im running which is no doubt way i've lost control over the RPM. but i'd like control over my RAM timings.. i'm running 1066mhz ram and right now its been held back to 800mhz.

Joe, Have you tried pressing control+F1 in the BIOS? The trick seems to be that you have to be on the main page and not the Intelligent Tweeker page when you do it. At least thats the only way I can get it to work for me. If you've tried this already sorry That's the only idea I've got. Nik

Yes, I meant, you want the F7 bios. I would not touch a beta bios with a barge pole! It's there on Gigabytes website. I can alter ram in my bios.

you were up early! I've restored the BIOS back to F7 once good thing about the F8b bios it allowed me to up my multiplier by .5 giving me 8.5 reading at a clock speed of 2.8ghz with a little luck on the fiinal release of that BIOS i should be able to push my OC to 4ghz maybe :-) I'm thinking of doing this: remove the faceplate and attach this behind the front at the bottom of the case. showing only the 6 fan controller knobs and there Blue LEDs shining from within the case. This would allow me to connect my CPU GPU 2 Front 120mm and the rear 120mm fans. could look smooth. J.

The Zalman controler looks cool! What about integrating it to hide behind the second super-drive slot? Assuming you're not using it and you could fashion a way to open it it would be most steathly! Just a thought Nik

I fitted the new fans today. check it out. I didnt take any photos of the rear fan in the RAM cage.. will do some. As the DS2R lacks alot of the cooling found on the DQ6 i was worried about pushing my rig to the same OC as is was on the DQ6 so a bought some more cooling... 12 of these (they didnt come today! asholes charges me £10 for next day and im not gonna get them till monday!) Which will take care of the MOSFETS (If my mobo has room for them) And i fitted one of these, which is doing a great job! This is now cooling my northbridge. Before After, that combined with the case fans has knocked off 9-11'c system temp and 4'c CPU please note Case fans are on the middle speed setting 1100rpm and my CPU is set at 1600rpm. Also got round to wiring up the Powerswitch which is great!. J.
