I have an issue... I know, get with the times, but i like tinkering with old hardware.
I have an old iMac that i want to connect to the net, but i have a slight problem with that. The router is upstairs and it's wireless. The iMac is downstairs and no wireless on it.
I have a PC laptop using that wireless, so here is my dilemma...
How do i connect OS 9 to XP for internet sharing using a firewire cable i have?
The laptop has a 4 pin firewire connection on it and the iMac has the 6 pin connection.

Redd Could you not connect the PC to the MAC via an ethernet cable and bridge the wired and wireless connection on the PC? I read into the process fairly deeply when I was trying to use a laptop to get a XBOX 360 connected to the net for the same reasons. While I never did get the Xbox to work (got a sweet deal on a microsoft wireless ethernet connector and abandoned the project) I would think the process would be similar. Here's a link; www.avforums.com/forums/xbox-live/271175-help-connecting-xbox-live-via-pc.html-and- www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcSsc23dhXcIt's for an Xbox but like I said I don't see why it wouldn't work for a Mac or any other computer for that matter. Hope it helps, Nik

You know, it never dawned on me to use the ethernet bridge in XP nikonnut. I think i'll try that and see if it does work with the 9 side. Maybe it might work. Will try that today and see what the results are.

Well, i tried the instructions from the youtube link, but to no avail. Instead, it decided to lock up my wireless when i hit apply. Maybe that only works with Vista, since in the video, that's what he is using. I might try bridging the 2 connections and seeing if that will help. If not, then i will wait until later this month and buy a wifi card and imac adapter.
