Very Nice, Aqua! I might have to gut my DA and move the hack . I'll be you get a few interesting comments when you pop the side cover and reveal the beast with in. What are you planning for an encore? I can't wait! Nik

Hi,
Well as the Hack Pro only has one PCIe x16 socket (d**n micro atx) so it would not be possible, although they would fit in the G5 hack and I did think about it. I do like the Asus motherboard - you even get the pulsing power button light during sleep. I guess I fancied making "a wolf in sheeps clothing". I may well take this one into work as I quite fancy 3 monitors.

WOW Aqua! ...this is an amazing, powerful, perfect HACKINTOSH for me! BRAVOOO!! A great match for my two "old school" Apple monitors! It seems also relatively simple (..about hardware i mean). ...and now i'm ready to make one's debut and search for on eBay for a Q.Silver case. Have you planned to realize a little tutorial about this "jewel"? (if yes...plzz SOFTWARE (for newbie about OSX86 like me) and hardware). I'm looking forward to follow your great example and organize everything but immediately ...i've found that in Italy the "Quad core" 3ghz L2 8mb is still very expensive (about 650€); is this the same in England too? ...any advice for a "worthy substitute" (for a daily user of SchetchUp/Artlantis, ecc.)? ...and about Firewire? (ok..too many questions..! ) Thanks in advance... Ciaoo

Thanks for your great comments guys, indeed it is a monster! I would love to take it into an Apple store and ask "do you think I could run Final Cut Pro on my machine, then watch their faces as they popped open the side door.... Arkix, The quad core is actually a 2.4 GHz overclocked to 3 Gigs, so is not so expensive. Even on the stock fan it runs fine. This One One of the great things about this system is that it is so quiet, more so than when it was a Quicksilver even. Probably because all the fans are controlled by the bios and are turning pretty slow. I will try to put together a walkthrough when I have figured out the DVD drive and IO panel. You don't need any flash tools for this one, just an electric drill really and screwdrivers. Oh and a Jigsaw or dremel to remove the Apple IO panel.

Nice aqua, very nice. That would even make a nice standard PC gaming monster and also it being a sheep in wolfs clothing.

Waouw!!! Good reconversion for your modded Quicksilver with all the fans which provide a very good airflow. I still love your Apple fan grills. You should sell them, I am sure lots of us would by them. Very powerfull machine. The Quick is yet alive.

Great news Aqua, thanks a lot for your reply! Meanwhile I have already acquired the motherboard card (beautifulst) and i'm waiting for answer for the QuickSilver. If it will be possible and sufficient I will try to increase the air flow gives from under and front low side as you have made (but with space for 2 hard disks that i need) and and exit in the upper left side. Ps. .again... thanks for the inspiration! I missed "only" the debut in the Hackintosh world and this is… the time! I have only some doubts on the exact spec about power source , Vga (which brand) and the RAM DDR3. You could specify them for courtesy? maybe I have found this easy solution for I/O panel (than sure already you know): cgi.ebay.it/Asus-ATX-Blende-I-O-Shield-P5K3-Deluxe-WiFi_W0QQitemZ380029374800QQihZ025QQcategoryZ96487QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247and I perhaps will follow the way of the dvd like Ritalin opening a thin window in the original oval door. Ciaoo to all of you

The PS is a Jeantech 700 watt type, but any good PS will do. Just make sure you check out the position of the plug alignment. You will also need loom extenders for the main plug and extra 12 v supply. I needed 2 on each.
Memory that I used is Corsair DDR 3 1066MHz.
The 9800's I used were by a new firm called Zotak, who I am told are the new Nvidia arm of the well known ATI producer Sapphire. They certainly rock, but I guess the usual suspects will be fine too.
Hope that helps.

Zotak won overall in the CustomPC 9800GTX group review.. however... Custom PC slated the 9800GTX... not a very nice persons.. its a great card. how about fitting.. a laptop slot loading SATA drive somehow?? run it flush to the PSU load the discs in from the top.. I do like the e-Sata approach... good work around.
