I have started a rom Repository for all 512 Hackintosh cards that Gotoh and myself have fixed so far here.

I could get a decent deal on a EVGA GEFORCE 7950GT 512, but I only see the EVGA 7900gt 512 on your ROM downloads. Will the EVGA 7900GT 512 rom update work with the EVGA 7950GT 512? Also is it difficult to flash these cards? I haven't done this before, but I've flash a motherboard... is there anything I should be aware of?

Hi Racerblur,

I will download a rom for the card and have a look at it for you, stand by and I will report back.

EDIT:

I just looked at MVKTech and downloaded Revision 3 of this EVGA rom and fixed it. I only put it in the rom repository if it has been tested though. If you pm me your email I can send the rom. However, the most reliable method is to extract the rom from your card and send it to me so I can fix that one.

What processor are you using? I have upped the speeds slightly but I am also using a Quad Core @ 3.2 GHz which could make a significant difference.

That must be it, I have core 2 duo 2.66 mhz. Now all I need is to get my sound working to have fully functional hackintoch.

Here is my full setup for reference
Intel Bad Axe D975XBX motherboard w.built in gigabit ethernet and 7 + 1 sound using sigmatel 9221
Core 2 duo 2.66Mhz
2GB RAM
Sparkle gforce 7900gtx 512 mb flashed w. your new rom to fx5500

Everything except sound and graphic drivers were working right after 10.4.8 install. Natit 0.02 worked for garphics. Now all i have to to is to find the correct sound driver.

Hey Repoz,

I have the same motherboard... just
use "STAC9274D_83847621.txt" and drag on top of Taruga's "AppleHDAPatcher_v1.15" app to get audio working. You can find both files on insanelymac.com if you do a search. My audio is work great.

I have badaxe 1 which uses sigmatel 9221 drivers, for which I found a working appheHDA.kext from here

After copying it to the system/library/extensions/

I also corrected the file premissions:

sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleHDA.kext; sudo chmod -R 755 AppleHDA.kext

and removed the cached and packed extensions:

sudo rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

Reboot.

And now i get stereo output form the blue connector

Hallo all,
First of all i would like to say to aquamac that the "g5 case mod" is one of the best i've seen, congratulation.

Second, i would like to upgrade the graphic on my hachintosh and I was looking for a msi 7900 gto on ebay.
Right now i'm using an Asrock Conroe 945DVI with an Intel e6300@2.3ghz and an nvidia 7600gs.
I would like to ask you if you could publish a guide on how to flash the bios on those cards.

Is it someone test quadro with some profesional apps is it have performece difference ?
In windows can you instal quadro driver ?

Yes with Windows you can instal the Quadro driver. You will get a slight gain in performance. More of a gain in OSX it seems

To save a rom to a floppy disk:

To save the rom from your card you need to create a windows start up floppy disk. Download the latest version of nvflash and add the two files to the start up disk. Then go into your bios and set to boot from the floppy disk. Insert the floppy and when you get to the A: prompt, type,

nvflash -b save.rom

(leave a single space where I have otherwise it will not work)

This will save your graphics card bios to the floppy.

To flash a card from a floppy disk:

Boot with the floppy and get to the A: prompt. Then type:


nvflash -4 -5 -6 -j romname.rom

(Don't forget to leave a single space as I have above or it won't work - substitute romname for the exact name of your rom,eg, 4500.rom). The name must always finish with .rom

When the card has finished flashing, remove the floppy and power down.

Restart your computer.

If all is well, your screen will power up.

BFG 7900 gtx 512 OC has been modded to be a 5500 thanks to Aqua-mac!

It was worth the donation and then some!

I have a question that I guess I should share on the forum. I have a BFG 7800GT 256 card that was modded by Rubytuesday from the Strangedog forum to work on my G5. Could that card be modded to work as a 4500 as well and still function on the G5? Or do does these mods only work on Hackintoshes?

Yes that card can be modded, send me your rom. It can be shown as a Quadro FX 4500.
