I did work with Snow Leopard for some time and no issues. Yesterday it turned into sleep mode and after couple of hours there was this worrying smell. Opened the case and indeed the fan of the graphics card stopped working. The thing was real hot. turned of the power and let it cool down. Started up and it was back in town. however the fan now turns real slow. My rig is based on a GB X58 UD5, I7 920, 6 GB ram, 2 x 1 Terabyte HD. Everything is working nicely. Was playing with photoshop that day. But also the day before.
Send an email to the shop where I got the card. It is probably a driver issue was there reply... Is there anything I can do to increase the fan speed? Or tweak something else.
BTW this had happened before while running Leopard. The shop tested the card, and it worked ok. After I got it back all was well. Until yesterday that is...
BTW I did create a string in my Leopard days, and copied it to Snow Leopard. It works ok. Fast graphics. Can watch movies etc. Did not play games though.
Any clues to get this thing stable again are very welcome Thanks
