Does anyone know a working bootable PCI/SATA card for G4 ? The only ones I can find in France are overpriced Sonnet cards, and even the Acard version is hard to find. I've heard the acard PC version is very close to mac version, only one or 2 resistors to move, and need to be flashed, but I can't find detailed "how-to" on this matter. So if anyone know a reference of a card I could get for 50€ or less (which should be the price for a regular 2 internal ports SATA card), it would help me much !

What about the Firmtek/Seritek cards? Even if they are only 2 port SATA, they should do the trick. As for getting them where you are, that i'm a little stumped on.

I think I'll have to order a card from OWC. It's just annoying to pay 30$ shipping for a 39$ card at least it will be cheaper than buying it directly in France. eshop.macsales.com/item/SIIG/SCSATM12/anyone has tested this card ?

Can the Seritek PCI-X 4 port card boot 10.4 from a raid off of it? I have the SIIG 4 port pci card and it doesn't, so Im thinking I am going to sell it. I still want a 4 port card hence the Seritek.

As for booting from a raid in Tiger, i thought all sata cards could do that. Hmm, might have to do research on that myself for when i get sata drives. But if your looking for other internal 4 port cards, maybe try the Sonnet’s Tempo SATA X4i. Sure the price is a little steep, but it might do the job. But here are some options. You don't necessarily have to get them from OWC, but a description of what the card does might help you on what your looking for. FirmTek SeriTek/1V4Tempo SATA X4iHope this information helps.

Also, have a look at the Macgurus shop about controller cards, they mention some are not bootable, I had a Tempo sata 4 + 4, the earlier version of the one above (purple) and it was not bootable. I can verify that the Sonnet Tempo Serial ATA 2 port cards are bootable in all G4's and I think that the Firmtec/seritec is, but only tested in a MDD.
To save dissapointment, check with the retailer first!

I used a two channel Sonnet SATA PCI card as recommended by aquamac. Worked beautifully in my (sigh) MDD FW800. (i miss that beast)
