This one? www.twitpic.com/w3pegSure looks nice to me. While no one can comment for sure on OS X on it just yet I think the chances are pretty darned good. It must be using Intel's chipset which means it's got the same chipset as the current Mac Pros. Could be a serious dream machine though if it allows decent overclocking. They said on Twitter that "Yes, it is a Classified model And all the features one would expect on a Classified."

That new board looks amazing, I think it would give any mac pro a good trouncing. When it becomes available I will certainly be taking a look! However, finding a suitable case to take it's bulk could be interesting. It would certainly be a shoehorn into a mac pro case! Found this full size pic for anyone interested:

That is an absolute monster! Would it fit in a G5 do you think? Imagine an eight core 4GHz machine with 24GB of RAM, quad 5870s and a couple of 256gb SSDs in striped RAID mode. :-O Chances are you could build all that for less than the current 2.66GHz Octo Mac Pro!

No IDE, No Floppy but still has PS2! Same as on ASUS P6Tx... I got to conclusion that PC board designers/manufactures are idiots.

I think the reason for that is that the chipsets no longer support IDE or Floppy - manufacturers adding IDE or Floppy support add another controller such as JMicron's one on to the board. PS2 support, however, is I believe still included in the chipset.

Floppy, COM LPT PS2 and so is all part of Super IO chip, what I said is who will ever use on this high end boards PS2? I was happy to see they finally removed legacy crap from this boards but not PS2. Why still put that crap and assign resources on it? Not to mention floppy code is not even removed from BIOS, is just hidden so user can't see it.... That's why I said PC OEM's ODM's are idiots...

The positioning of the Sata ports is also a backward step interfering with graphics cards when multiples are used. I would hope this would be rectified on production boards.

Hey TK, Good work, I always wondered why that said Demo kext etc. Wouldn't mind a copy of that if your willing to share. I spent ages trying to get this to boot but still no success. Actually, I think I worked out the editing to get rid of DEMO:

Hi Aquamc,
What a wonderful job done here !! Congrats. Since i've seen this superb G5 mod i've decided to build one too.
I would like to know if you'll be ok to share your back plane layout drawings.. It's just perfect i think. I guess i will organize a bit differently the hardware inside but what you've done here is really smartly done.
Another question, did you build an ATX plane to hold the mobo in the bottom of the case, or did you move the original holders and glued it ?
I'd like to build a durable case, i order to renew the hardware easily in few months/years.

Another truly fantastic build Steve! You just keep raising the bar! The braids look fab! You did a much cleaner job then me. 3x 480GTX must have made your bank manager cry! do you have a Windows partition installed? it much scream through benchmarks! How many MacPro/G5 Macs do you own now? A photoshoot of them all side by side would be great showcase of your skills. The Aqua-Mac collection! :-)
Well done.
J.

Hi Joe,
Cheers man, well I have 2 mac pro builds, 2 G5 builds, 1 Level 10 & 1 Silverstone RV02 running OS X. My Wife has my original G5 and my lad one of the Mac Pro builds. There are still not many cases around that can hold a candle to the G5/Mac Pro case. I do have a win 7 e-sata disk and I have to say, I am sure the bank manager did have a bad week when I installed the 3rd GTX 480. I had to sell my 280's to make way for these.
How are you getting on with your mod, really looking forward to seeing it together. Should look fabulous in black!
