These make great MDD companions if you get a G70 one. Fastest card that you will find for the MDD, also, there is a reduced rom at Themacelite to! I flashed 10 of these before G71 chips muddied the waters. You also need to remove AppleHWSensor.kext if you are running Leopard or your machine will take 10 mins to boot!

Just a quick tip to anyone looking at the EVGA 7800gs. Don't buy it. It will not work with a Mac and there is no suitable Rom. I wanted this card because of reading how it outperforms the BFG 7800gs and several other cards. EVGA likes to hide the bios revision so there was no way of knowing if this card would work until trying it. I got it home flashed it and I now have a dead card. After the flash I started peeling the 5 or so manufacturers stickers off the card to find a sticker under a sticker that had the bios revision and sure enough this card is the G71. So essentially this card is a 7900gs not a 7800gs even though labeled as a 7800gs. Thanks EVGA for making me waste $50 by not properly labeling your cards. oh well lesson learned and hopefully this info will keep someone from making the same mistake.

update. got it flashed back to the suitable pc rom. Wish I could get a mac rom for this card because the G71 does outperform the G70.

I just purchased a BFG 7800GS, which I actually won't have in my hands until tonight... I've been wondering how to best cool it in my g5? I've heard that the fan will go full blast and is very noisy, since it won't be responding to any hardware control. How can I monitor the temps of the card, and are there any alternative cooling methods I can use for it?
