hey everyone. Built my second hackintosh. Quick list of parts: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel Q9300 Nvidia e-Geforce 8600 GT 4GB PC2-8500 Segate 1 TB sata Linksys WMP54GS i am trying to use the new iatkos v5i DVD. im sure the DVD is fine, i just think its the options im selecting upon installation. I formatted it to a GUID partition. When i customize my options here is what i select: PC EFI V9 (bootloader) dsmos (decrypters) SMBIOS-EFI (SMBIOS drivers) 9.2.0 Kernel ToH (kernel) then when i restart the computer i get the "you need to reboot your computer". the -v option doesnt tell me anything. it kinda seems like its stuck. im gonna try other settings and report. ill take pictures. if anyone has the proper settings for iatkos v5i i would really appreciate it. thanks! farm4.static.flickr.com/3194/3117409516_8b6664868f.jpg?v=0farm4.static.flickr.com/3194/3117409516_8b6664868f.jpg?v=0

Hi,
Go into the bios and set your hard disks to AHCI when installing, select fixed ACPI. Is Iatkos v5 10.5.5? You need a late install for that graphics card. Try not selecting any graphics drivers during the install, might be best to use GFX strings with this graphics card. Double check that it has not installed NVInject.kext, NVKush.kext or Natit.kext in your extensions folder. If it has delete them.

ya its still not working. i had to use kalyway 10.5.1. it was working fine till i had to update to 10.5.5. this one is a pregnant dog to update from 10.5.4. ok so i follow the instructions about running the script to remove the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. i used these instructions:
1. Download 10.5.5 from here 2. Mount DMG 3. Run Terminal 4. Type 'sudo passwd' and enter your password 5. Set your root password (and confirm) 6. Type 'su root' and enter your password 7. Type 'while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done' (the terminal window should just 'freeze' (it's processing a loop)) 8. Run the updater (MacOSXUpd10.5.5.pkg) from the volume you mounted earlier. When it completes do NOT restart 9. Switch back to the Terminal window 10. Press Ctrl-C 11. Type 'exit' (and then again) to close terminal window 12. Switch back to updater and press restart 13. Party on down!
i got as far as #12. for the life of me i can not party on down! what happens is that the computer restarts and the first time it booted it got to the gray apple logo then it restarted on its own. now i get to the gray apple logo with the spinning cursor but the cursor stops spinning after like 10-20 seconds and the computer just seems to hang there. any recommendations? this is like the 5th time i am doing this. i had to reinstall so many times and can get the updates properly installed. thats why i wanted to use iatkos cuz it was already at 10.5.5. ill do -v, -x, -f and see what i get. i tried update -v with no results.

i guess im talking to myself but ill update the page just in case people are having the same problem. i figured this out. i launched the iatkos v5i dvd and reinstall the bootloader and check "Remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext". this seemed to work. i was able to get to the 10.5.5. i repeated the sets above to install 10.5.6 and it worked. if you get stuck, go back and uninstall AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. but i did something stupid. now i thought i would use the virginizer tool to revert the 10.5.6 to the stock look. i didnt do it in the beginning like i was suppose to. it kicked my system all the way back to 10.5.1!! so i slow updated back to 10.5.4 and now every time i mount the 10.5.5 installer i get the "You need to restart...". EVERY TIME! i tried the 10.5.6 combo (disabling AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext) and it still crashes. anyone have a clue on why this happening? i tried using the standard system updater but still, it crashes! i dont want to have to reinstall AGAIN! but this is a learning process. im building knowledge. if no one has a solution then ill just end up reinstalling. now sure why i cant get iatkos v5i to work though.

Well i gave up on iATKOS. i dont think it was meant to be. I reinstalled Kalyway and everything is good. im on 10.5.6. now i have two small problems. Video card.
I managed to install the necessary driver and enable QE/CI and QuartzGL too. the problem is that when i start up my hackintosh after the grey apple logo it takes ~2 minutes to load. i get a solid black screen for those to 2 minutes then after the 2 min i see my cursor and it boots normally. im not exactly sure why this happens and whatever i found on online doesnt show me a fix. i do have a problem with my sound but im doing what i can to fix it myself. if i dont, then ill post up. the video is kind of annoying so if someone can help me i would appreciate it. im almost done with it!!

Try deleting AppleHWSensor.kext. This is usually the culprit for slow boot times.

Try deleting AppleHWSensor.kext. This is usually the culprit for slow boot times. Yes, i agree. Deleting that kext always helps with boot times and Leopard. Any aftermarket Nvidia card and Leopard slows boot time via 2 minutes. Even on actual macs and aftermarket Nvidia cards. Authentic cards don't do that like the actual 6800 and a G5.
