I have a 7800 GT from BFGTech (PCIE). I am trying to flash it to work in my G5. I grabbed the OEM rom from Strangedogs and its too big I believe.
I get the following error: ERROR: Mismatch in 256 byte page-mode programming
Does anyone have a working rom for this card?
Thanks!

Hi Zmttoxics,
I do not have the 7800GT rom for PCIe/PPC I am afraid. I looked on Themacelite wiki downloads but could only find the rom for AGP cards. If you do have the PPC rom, you could change the rom chip and flash the full size rom.

The quadro rom on that site is listed as a 64k rom. Chances are I can rig that to work (change the speeds to match the 7800 gt). I have done that with a few other cards in the 5xxx and 6xxx series (not for ppc use, just in general).

Hi,
Yes, I have done a similar thing on a GT using the Quadro rom, but for intel, the only problem I found was that the fan ran at full bore.

Hmm. Could be a different default fan settings. The card as is is too loud for full time use in my g5 anyways. I was going to get an after market cooler for it (something like the GFXChilla). I can't wait to get home and try it out (currently at work).

Apparently it wont work. I cant modify the rom - it comes up wrong in the editor. And the card wont come up because I believe the clocks are too high. Either way, I am boned.

You cannot edit a PPC rom in programs such as Nibitor, you have to edit them manually I am afraid.

So last I left with this, I had flashed the 7800 with the Quadro firmware, but the system refused to boot off it. Thoughts? I hadn't changed the speeds or anything on it, so that may have been the issue (clock speed too high?).
Anyone know where to get a larger bios chip for it?
