Trial and error! On the 2 front fans, one of the fans is special and works in reverse and is moulded back to front. Try as I might, I could not get this to work and had to obtain a replacement fan from an Apple parts supplier that was the same as the rear fan or identical to the other front fan. I really dont know why Apple went to all that trouble, maybe it was something to do with resonance. The wiring is as follows to the 3 pin lead: RED : YELLOW : RED : BLACK You will have to do a bit of trial and error.

amantheboy08, when you do figure out the mac pro front panel wiring diagram i'd like to see it. currently i have mine wired up as per aqua's and still can only get the led working.
i've dismantled the front switch but in the process the three wires got detached from the button, does anyone know in which order they go so i can solder them on again.
thanks
j

Hi, I want to ask for help 10 years later I got my PWR button working but the LED does not! I connected a molex to the 8 pin. All pins exept the orange. The PWR LED just flickers when attaching the 8 pin into the socket or switching up the button.
