i am concerning about the flashed to be compatible with hackintosh 7900GTX to Quadro will appear in Hackintosh OS X as Quadro , with improved OpenGL performance .
How about in Windows ? will Windows read it as Quadro or still a 7900GTX . If Windows read it as Quadro , will the performance of OpenGL of the modded 7900GTX-Quadro improve ?

The modded card will read as a Quadro in windows and OSX. It will also use the Quadro drivers in windows but I have had mixed reactions to the improvements in windows. However, it will certainly not perform worse so there is really nothing to lose.

what i wondering is will the modded BIOS 7900GTXQuadro perform as good as Softmod RivaTunerQuadro in windows . however , i am willing to experience it as no harm trying that i still can Flash it back to the original 7900GTX right ?

Not really sure as I have not used Riva Tuner. If you send me a rom, I can convert it and you could test the difference.

aqua ,
i am wondering something here , not sure u might be able to answer or help me out . erm , i am sort of interested to know how to mod the rom by myself , as hobby . what programme does you use to modify the rom ?
meanwhile , if the 7900GTX rom is send to tyou , do you replace certain line of the rom command with 5500Quadro's command ?

There is a guide here for just changing the ability of a 512 card to boot on a hackintosh: nvinject.free.fr/512Mb.htmlTo change a card to a Quadro involves actually changing the name in the rom but adding extra 000's after the name to keep the length of the rom the same. You need to change the device id, then correct for doing this, I will then correct the whole rom using nibitor. I also change various other parts like dates the rom was made so I can recognize in the future if it is a rom that I changed. If you can send me your rom, you can compare it in Hex-edit to see the changes I made. Along the way of learning, believe me there have been many "Dead" graphics cards! There are still many things I have to learn, it could fill a book.

Hi,
I have BFG 7900GTX with AMD FX-60 running OS X 10.5.3
Got everything to work great accept video resolution stuck at 1024x768.
Then I looked around, found this rom fix. I was hesitant at first, but then decided to flash my card to the Quadro 5500. I now get 1920x1200 resolution.
Only problem left: I dont get CI/QE.
1) What is the exact extensions I need to get CI/QE on 10.5.3 with AMD and flashed 7900GTX?
2) I dual boot Win XP, and I had to change my nvidia driver to Quadro. Will it affect performance of 7900GTX on WinXP since it is not using 7900 optimized drivers???
thank you!

Your 7900 which is now set up as a Quadro should not change with regard to windows - you should still get similar performance. If you are running EFI v8 to boot I suggest giving gfx strings a go, the instructions on what to do are here

Hi thanks for the response, I figured it out!
I read somewhere that 10.5.3 patch screws up the CI/QE with some people using nvinject. solution was to remove nvinject and use natit. now system is very stable
thanks for such a wonderful resource...
p.s.
Im still concerned about my 7900GTX running as a Quadro 5500 in XP... when i have time, i will do some performance testing. so far WoW seems to play ok without noticable difference.
I just find it hard to believe that it will be 100% as stable/fast with a driver talking to a card that is not the card! Considering over the years they have been tweaking the drivers making improvements specific to the cards.

There is one thing I wonder. If you change the ROM of the 7900GTX you have to have the Quadro FX5500 drivers right not the 7900GTX right in windows? Also how big is difference in performance between the 7900GTX and the 8800GTX when both ROM's are replaced with Quadro ROM? Also of interest; are the chiped cards SLI compatible? Can you run 2 7900GTX just like the original Quadro FX5500 together?

Treo just use the gfx strings and you dont have to worry about nvinject or nati. I have a XFX 7900GTX flash to quadro by aqua and running on 10.5.4. I'm not a gamer but the reason I want the quadro is because of the professional 3d capabilities for apps like maya and 3ds Max, plus it looks cool to have a quadro in the graphics details on osx, you're system looks more expensive Here's the link on how to do it.
