Aquamac,
My Nvidia 9600 GT is a 512MB card.
I will make sure none of the "injection" extensions are in my folder as you mentioned.
I also have a Nvidia 8400 GS card in the same machine and would like to have a Triple monitor setup where the 9600 GT is DUAL monitor and the third monitor is the 8400 GS if that is possible
Thank you SO much for making the GFX file for my cards! You are awesome!

Thanks again!

Hi vjdave,
Is the 8400GS a dual DVI or is it DVI/VGA. I need to know this for the NVCAP info.

The 8400 GS has a special y adapter that goes from a proprietary port to two VGA ports (no DVI)
THANK YOU AQUA MAC!

Aquamac,
Thank you for all your help. I tried the GFX string for the 9600 GT that you posted and I was able to boot into the OS but I do not have any resolution options..it just lets me select 1024x768 only and doesn't show the name of my card. I do not have any injectors in the extensions folder...is there any Kext files I need to modify in addition to the GFX string being added to the boot file?
Thank You

Hey Aquamac, I admire your work, and have been using your research for a while. I hate to bother you, but I'm having a problem, and I'm not even sure where to start. I've got a vanilla system that I upgraded to 10.5.6. I'm using a Nvidia 9600 GT (which probably wasn't the best choice in retrospect, but it's what I choose). I've tried about every tutorial I've seen of yours, as well as a few others. I've used the GFX Strings from this thread, as well as your Nvidia 9000 Series v2 Driver set, but I can't get the system to recognize my card. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I'm also getting a ghosting effect... the inability of a window to re-draw itself, so I need some help. Have you seen the following effect, where a window is redrawn as a transparent outline, but without the inside being re-drawn? {I will attempt to post screenshots, but this is the first time I've ever needed to post.} Any lead you {or anyone else} could give me would be tremendously helpful. I don't want to resort to XP! Any time I use the drivers OR the 10.5.x system (I install from a 10.5.0ish disk, and anytime I go to a minor revision, I see the transparent effect), I end up getting these transparent windows (even from a clean install). Do you have some sort of advise? eddiewelker.com/osx86/Picture 1.png[/img] eddiewelker.com/oxs86/Picture 2.png[/img] eddiewelker.com/osx86/Picture 3.png[/img]

Hey I have your same card AND have the same problem! I was able to stop the ghosting effect by removing a bunch of extensions in the extensions folder that relate to NV and Geforce...but please don't take this as a solution because I might of deleted needed extentions. You and I need to figure out how to load the real drivers with full QC since we both have the same card

Finally GETTING SOMEWHERE WITH MY 9600 GT
Ok I did a fresh install of XxX 10.5.6 w/PPF 1 Selected NVDarwin 512 ONLY! (Did not use any GFX string)
I have TWO graphics cards in my machine (One 9600 GT and one 8400 GS) and I had to PULL OUT THE 8400 GS card and reinstall XxX 10.5.6 w/PPF 1 and in customize selected NV Darwin 512 again. (Darwin version is 1.2.3)
IT FOUND MY 9600 GT with FULL QI/QC and detected BOTH MY MONITORS at full resoultion!
Now the bad news...the second monitor is "flickering bad" and I've seen someone here post about how to fix that issue.
THANK YOU AQUAMAC for all your help! I might still try your GFX string to see if that fixes my 2nd monitor flickering problem. I think one of the DVI ports (I have 2 DVI ports) is not configured correctly

Nevermind about Darwin, I GOT MY 9600 GT working with the EFX string with FULL QE/CI support with AQUAMAC'S GFX String and fixed my dual monitor flicker issue as well!
I just deleted the NVDARWIN.kext file and rebooted with hitting F8 then doing -v -f and it worked!
Now I am going to try and do this with DUAL GRAPHICS CARDS (3 monitors)
9600 GT in PCIe slot 1 8400 GS in PCIe slot 2
Aquamac, can I have a EFIstring for this?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP! After 3 days I got it working! WOOHOO!

Diggah,
Don't use the v2 drivers. Delete all that if you are using 10.5.6. I got mine working without them with XxX 10.5.6 PPF1. Just use the GFX string alone in the boot file
Aqua, can you please make me a working 8400 GS 512meg with VGA (dual vga) . Its a single port card but uses a y-adapter to go to TWO vga ports for dual monitor.
Thanks Aqua!

Glad its working for you!
Now I need Aquamac to make me a working string for my 8400 GS.
The string that the EFX studio creates doesn't work.
Here is my device info for my 8400 GS DevicePath = PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1c,0x3)/Pci(0x0,0x0)
Here is my device info for my 9600 GT DevicePath = PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)
both are 512MEG cards
Aquamac...if you can make me either a seperate string for my 8400 GS or a combined string for both cards that would be awesome!
THANK YOU AQUAMAC!
PS: I am loving my hackintosh!

Vjdave, To get your card working, we need the correct NVCAP values. To obtain them, download this small mac program: LinkYou need to save the bios from your 8400GS graphics card to your desktop then run this program. This will give the NVCAP of your card. Post the result here and I will have a crack at a GFX string for you. Also tell me the make of your 8400GS! Here is a com.apple.boot.plist I had a crack at. It was on a rom I downloaded from the internet so I do not know if it has the same VGA output as yours: rapidshare.com/files/188587437/8400_GS.zip.htmlIt is based on the PCI address you showed above. PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1c,0x3)/Pci(0x0,0x0) So would only work in slot 2.
