GFX Strings - How To

Here's a weird one... not sure how much faith to put in the Xbench scores, however my ones for the graphics part fell about 15-20% when I changed from the EFIStudio's 8800gtx 768 over to the one you made for me, (the quadroFX 4600).

Any ideas why that would have happened?

Hola,
I did all the steps and successfully install the GFX strings and it was recognized my card, but still not QE + CI.
I am having a PNY Nvidia Geforce 6200 AGP 8x
I used "Files for Generic 256 mb cards: Click to Download"
Is there any specific for this card?
Is the AGP bus make the GFX string different?
Any help please?

I think GFX Strings is untested on AGP. Did you try Nvinject?

I finally make it work (accidentally :-) ), installing NVDarwin 1.2.4 reboot and then NVinstallerv5.2
Don't know why but I have everything working.

hello , forst time here, noticed the gfx string thread..

i have a Forsa 9600GSO 384 MB / G92 (yeah, weird ram config, i know) i got it work using nvinject 52 but recognized as 8600GTS 320MB (there are no option for installing 384MB card) but QE / CI works perfect.

is there any way i can benefit from GFX strings edit to get my card recognise properly?

Hello, I already wrote in another topic i have 9800gx2 i would like try setup gfx string, which file i should download? I don't see 9800gx2 in list, so im a bit confused.

Ok even if i didnt know which file to start for my 9800gx2, i tried by hcoosing one.
I used Files for 9800GTX 512 mb cards followed instructions as replace this part of code:
PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0xe,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)
and builded strings file and paste in boot.plist with 1920x1200x32 resolution.

Well now my system is running in right resolution but i think something wrong.
Maybe aquamac can you post your 9800gx2 string? Maybe it will work for me too...or tell me on which file to work from your download list.

PS. I still have no drivers installed, im waiting for set first right gfx strings, then i will do step for drivers from your installer.

I was wondering if you know if this method will work on an ASUS 9800 GTX+ 512? I followed your instructions as best I could, but no QE or CI. I'm running iAtkos 4. Thanks!

You will probably have to edit the pci addresses. One of yours above is correct but one is wrong, that is why one of your cards is showing as "Monitor".

Yes the strings should work for that card, are you on 10.5.5 with my driver installer from here:

hi aquamac.. i have 10.5.2 installed and an xfx 8800GT 512.. QE and CI working.. altho card model doesnt show..

my question is.. will my QuadroFX 1700 work with my hackintosh? i may have to use it for a 3D project.. i don't see any strings for it..

Hi Joemaigarcia,

That is not a card I know well, is it based on 7 series or 8 series. If it is 512 mb (which I think it is) and it is 7 series, then the rom would need reflashing, but if it is 8 series that would not be necessary.

Alternatively, you could change your 8800 GT into a Quadro FX 3700 by reflashing it with the rom I have made. I made roms for both the 512 & 1 gig cards.

Make sure you back up your original rom onto the floppy you are using in case these roms don't work with your card.

Thanks a lot for this great guide, but i have some problems I did all the steps and successfully install the GFX strings. OS was recognized my card, but still not QE + CI.
I'm running Leo4All v4.1 (have tryed another distros with no luck) OS X v 10.5.4 on Palit 512Mb 9800GTX+, mobo is Asus M2N-E

i aqua,
my card is a PNY Quadro FX 1700, featuring a nVidia G84GL chipset, 460 MHz core clock and 400 MHz mem clock freqs..
should be equivalent to a geforce 8600..

It seems like GFX strings are working, but some other part of the drivers is missing or not working. Can I suggest installing these drivers here

Driver Download

Reboot and press F8 just before the Grey Apple screen, then type:

-f -v

Let me know how that goes.
