GFX Strings - How To

If you have "GraphicsEnabler" in your com.apple.boot.plist you should not have the "device-properties" bit and the string that follows it. In the same way, if you are using device properties and following string you should not enable "GraphicsEnabler" They are not designed to work together but should be used independently. They do the same job but in slightly different ways. Using either one of the above means you do not want Natit or any other injector in your Extensions folder. Not observing these will most likely end up with no QE or CI.
You referred to the "device key", I am not sure what you meant by this?

3. (Easy)

Aquamac, i restored my hackintosh (with my old backup system from 1 week ago). it's working right now (don't lost any data so that's cool)

I was thinking about the following: For my install i needed to edit the DSDT file (from the beginning), but the difference with the new setup is that my second videocard wasn't in the pc when i extracted the DSDT from the bios.

Is it possible that the generated dsdt.aml file is not ok anymore because it's configured for a 1 videocard setup? In other words: is it possible that because of the DSDT file my second videocard can't be recognised at all? And do i have to recreate the new DSDT.aml file with the old setting + second videocard basic setup?

And about editing the dsdt file: is it just fill in the right thing for the 8400gs card? Or is it very custom made?

You ask some good questions there. You are right, I am sure you will end up having to edit your DSDT of your motherboard 2 get both cards working.

If you do nothing other than drop the second card in, do you get a kernel panic or can you boot to the desktop and have it show in system profiler as "display" (use your single string com.apple.boot.plist or GraphicsEnabler). Let me know the result. I suppose we could get your single card going in DSDT then having perfected that have a go at the second. If it helps I could send you my DSDT that fixed 3 graphics cards on my motherboard that was worked out by "the king". You still need to use GFX strings though for multiple cards.

i can boot into snow leopard 10.6.4 perfectly now. I can see the second card as "display":

i followed this guide (just starting post) to try fixen the dsdt, didn't work. (changed the 2 red entry's). the only point is that i use my old dsdt.aml file, cause i forget all the changes i made (i hoped it was just something like adding the info, not)

there is a guy over there named 'kdawg' who figured out how to fill in all the dsdt entry's so he didn't had to use any string at all.

hello again,

I figured out that my mainboard p5n32e-sli plus had 3 pci-express slots. 2 blue ones and 1 white one.


So i tried to change the 8400gs (which was in the white slot) tot the second blue slot.

Can you make a new key for me?

Don't work either. I can both with it, but both screens work. My main screen had only a option for 1600-1200 32 mb (about screen).

Is it something with the card itself? I mean, I've a MSI 512 8800gt with 2 DVI and 1 tv out.

The 8400GS has 512 mb and VGA and DVI (no tv out, and only 1 DVI).

Is the key you created, made for this setup? (VGA/DVI)?

I'm having difficulty getting my evga GTS 250 to get a resolution higher than 1280x1024 (no kext installed yet) and QE as well. When I use the method provided on pg 1, I'll either boot normal with a resolution of 1024x768 or will get a kernal panic (most likely from conflicting with a kext I forgot to delete when i had those installed.) I've done this several times and its always a pain to get this card to work correctly. I'm currently using 10.5.6 and can use a combo update to 10.5.8 if that will solve or help solve the issue. Maybe I need step-by-step directions or something...

Im using a GA-X38-DS5 (Also tried ASUS P7P55 LX) + Zotac GTS 250 Eco 1Gb

I tried the exact process Aquamac posted at the top of this page but whenever i start up SnowLeo 10.6.0 (already installed with an ASUS 7600 GS (NO QE/CI))

All i get is a Blank Screen although the HDD seems to be working on something..

If anyone can help me i would be so greatful

I don't know if is already posted. I have a GTX 275 with 1792 MB or ram. I'm trying to make this card 100% functional in osx. I have Hazard Leopard 10.6.2 (updated to 10.6.5) and nvenabler . Well QI\QE is enabled but i have awful performance. In CUDA and OpenCL I have almost the same performance as a 9600GT tested with galaxies and nbody, Premiere CS5 CUDA mode is slower then my i5 stock clock, same in octane render, in Maya 2011 with empty viewport i have only 44-47 fps, normally is 60 fps (vsync on) and with a simple Audi R8 scene I have 22 fps usually stays at 55 fps.

The card is not fully recognized

I swap out my OSX HDD, put it into an other similar machine with 9800GTX, the system autocratically recognized the card as a 9800GTX and the performance was huge compared to my GTX 275. Then I put my HDD back into my system and replace the GTX 275 with 9800GTX, same huge results .

Is there a GFX Strings for GTX 275 1792 MB to fully roll under OSX. As you can see in the print screen I use a lot of professional application and i need the full power of the card. Can some one help me please.

Are you comparing windows speeds to OSX. I have posted a GTX 275 in.plist below for your card. You will have to enter & change the location paths for your motherboard.
