Broke my Kalyway install I didn't get to the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext quick enough and I got a Kernel Panic. Netkas' how to seems to be the way to go. netkas.org/?p=50 I'll give everyone a heads up after the re-install EDIT: I now have 10.5.2 running with Kalyway+GUID+EFI. The system profiler is borked but most of it is fixed with the AppleSMBIOS.kext from Kalyway 10.5.1. The processor speed is wrong but that should be an easy fix (Aqua? Ritalin?) Other than that the only fixes (for me) were sound patches and NVinject and the whole thing was fairly painless. Downloading the graphics driver update now.

Well your all far keener than I. I've installed 10.5.2 and the graphic update on my ageing PowerBook, but I think I will wait till the weekend before I tackle updating my hacks. Nice that stacks is sorted. The look of folders still sucks, I guess expecting Apple to change them was wishful thinking.

not sure if you guys are aware but their is a kalyway 10.5.2 combo update floating about. I have applied it on a test machine but it doesn`t actually update the kernel so not of any real use... Just thought i`d let you all know incase you are looking into it...
Best bet seems to be Netkas`s install method which i can confirm works fine on my Kalyway 10.5.1 install (MBR non-vanilla EFI).
cheers,

Well that was more tricky than I thought it would be! All working now - EFI + GUID, but took the whole evening so far to get it all going. I used the easy method of installing on one disk to another installation otherwise I just seemed to KP. I could then go in and replace kexts. It would not work with the 10.5.2 kernel, I had to edit the sleep 10.5.1 kernel and it works great now. I edited all the kernel so the system thinks it is 10.5.2 kernel. After the graphics update, XBench jumped 50 points.
Nikon, no time now but we can sort your "About this mac" at the weekend.

Aqua, Thank you. That's very kind but I got it figured out as it were. I replaced the current AppleSMBIOS.kext with Paulicats version (from back in the Tiger days) and it's good to go! So aside from the restart issue this old dog is pretty stable! Joy. If any one needs Paulicat (I'm not sure if it's easy to find anymore) PM me and we'll get it taken care of.
Cheers, Nik
