Using 10.4.8 and Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1 (paulicat, speedstep enabled) I've been having problems activating personal file sharing. In System Preferences/Sharing/Services I could click Start on Personal File Sharing, but it would then gray-out and never turn on I found a broken symbolic link to AppleFileServer to be the cause of the problem. If anyone else has this problem it can be fixed in the terminal... This should put AFP back in action.

It may have been broken in the JaS install disc. I don't know as the system has been running for some time, it may have been broken since installation. If you had the exact same problem I would assume it was the JaS disc.

Yes it worked thanks, although I found I had to re check it at re-boot. I will check over a while to see if it stays checked.
