Using 10.4.8 and Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1 (paulicat, speedstep enabled) I've been having problems activating personal file sharing. In System Preferences/Sharing/Services I could click Start on Personal File Sharing, but it would then gray-out and never turn on
I found a broken symbolic link to AppleFileServer to be the cause of the problem.
If anyone else has this problem it can be fixed in the terminal...
cd /usr/sbin sudo rm AppleFileServer sudo ln -s /System/Library/CoreServices/AppleFileServer.app/Contents/MacOS/AppleFileServer
I also have this problem, gonna give the terminal a bash (ha ha very funny). How are you keeping, long time no hear!
Any joy? I don't know why the link was broken on my system. It may have been broken in the JaS install disc. I don't know as the system has been running for some time, it may have been broken since installation. If you had the exact same problem I would assume it was the JaS disc.
