Hi guys,
I emailed Gotoh, he said that for GF 4 you need to save the specific rom then edit that one. Sounds like maybe the timings are way off or device id. This may need a rom chip change, but I think the rom on these is the big ST chip just behind the VGA output. I have a dead one of these in my garage and will have a look tomorrow night when it is light as I am working till 5 pm (bulb has gone in the garage). if it cannot be fixed I do have a 4800 he can have. Just needs a fan I think. Will let you know tomorrow.

You could try flashing the card with the PC ROM. The card will not give you a display in the PC while it has the incorrect ROM on board. This means you will have to do it blind (unless you have a PCI card to hook up to the display). If you don't have a copy of the PC ROM you maybe able to get it from the www.mvktech.net/ site.

Hi Recorn,
Instructions for Flashing a New Rom to your Card
1. You need a Windows startup Disk. Copy your new rom onto the disk as well.
2. Place the Floppy into your computer, go into the bios (usually pressing the "Delete" button at startup and make sure the
computer is set to boot from your floppy disk drive.
3. The computer will boot from the floppy and you will hear the floppy disk being accessed.
4. When you get to the A: prompt, type the following;
nvflash -4 -5 -6 -j romname.rom (romname is whatever your rom is called)
(leave a single space between as I have above or it will not work. * romname, needs to be replaced with the actual name
of the rom you are flashing eg: nvflash -4 -5 -6 -j 5500.rom )
(leave a single space between as I have above or it will not work)
The screen may go blank while the rom is flashed. When nvflash has finished, remove the floppy disk and restart your computer. Your screen should burst into life.
