Hey guys, My internet connection went to !@#$ and I needed my Aqua fix so... Out comes the trusty cell phone (A Samsung Blackjack, SGH-i607) and via a loop hole in the way interent sharing occurs presto! A make shift connection using Bluetooth PAN and my d-Link DBT-120 bluetooth module. Not screaming fast but not bad for EDGE. Mind you the latency SUCKS! However, I'm in Arkansas and SpeedTest says I'm in Florida (?) so I'm sure that where that little issue comes from. Here's the results: Makes me wonder what 3G can do... Moral of the story, don't do this unless you have an unlimited DATA plan (I'd be paying $.01/KB or $10.00/MB without said plan) but it's nice to know I have redundancy ;D Cheers, Chris

Hi Nikon,
Yeah, I tried this a few times on my powerbook when staying at a hotel and it did work! Then I got a new mobile and had problems with it. Hope you get your std internet connection up & running soon.

Yes, I've done the same thing in the past. As an Orange PAYG customer I use Orange World Access Daily, unlimited access for 1 day for £1 via GPRS. As it was an infrequent event it was the cheapest option. I see this is available to 3G customers now, it wasn't when I was using it. However the 3G version is capped at 25MB per day, the GPRS system isn't capped. I used to really kick the ass out of it and leave bit-torrent on all day just to get my moneys worth. The GPRS is way slower than 3G and at the time Orange UK network didn't support EDGE (don't think that has changed), so it was slower than nikonnuts connection. I used Onspeed (which sounds like snake oil, but really works) to speed the connection up. Also using PithHelmet to block animations and the like can really help speed things up when browsing.
