I have a D-Link DWL-G122 wireless adapter and for some odd reason it's not working right. Each time i start my system i get no signal strength and the D-Link settings doesn't see the adapter. Now the Apple System Profiler see it just fine The only way for me to get a signal is to phiscly unplug the USB and replug it back in. Then i get a network and i can log on. Also, when i am connected to a network, i have a strong signal then for some odd reason the signal drops and then it reconnects again. Is there some way of fixing this or do i have to buy a new adapter or what? I'm at a loss here, please help.

Hi JJ,
I don't think you need to buy a new dongle, but you may need to uninstall/reinstall the driver software. Try running Ony X as well. I also used to find that the info in the taskbar opened up more reliably if I removed it from (I think it it is system/start up or library/startup folder, dropped it (mini usb app) into my apps folder then configured it to open in System preferences.

Thanks aqua, Onyx worked really well for clearing up alot on my system. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and so far the D-Link seems to work better. Again, thanks.

I spoke too soon. I'm still getting connection dropped then it grabs the signal again. Could that just be some settings in the DI-524 wireless router i'm running through? I was thinking of getting an airport extreme. Would that help cut the drops?

Not sure about that one, there is also another driver that works with this dongle, that you can download directly from the chip manufacturer Ralink here: www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htmGo to bottom of page, it is RT2500 USB for Mac. I have not tried it, but it might be worth a shot. You can still use tht mini taskbar usb app with this driver I think. Good luck.
