So, Apple has brought out a new laptop to replace the iBook. They call it the Macbook. According to the specs, it should be pretty good of a machine, but there is one flaw in it. The same flaw that they built into the new Mini's. The Intel GMA 950 graphics chips. According to several threads out there on the net, this is the worst graphics chipsets that Intel has ever come out with. Some have even compared it to the old and dead rage chips (have to find that forum again sometime). Any ideas on this new piece of hardware Apple had designed?

Yeah, it's a real shame Apple do this. They have always had second rate graphics, or madly expensive, like the Quadro (£1100). They do not really cater for gamers, they think that Apple users do not play games generally, but I think they maybe surprised by the number that do. Other than graphics, their computers trample all over PC's, they really should notice that the graphics world dominates PC's & while not everyone is bothered about this, there is a fair amount of spin off & following. Just look at the interest in graphics cards at Strangedogs, Apple does not bother to supply this market. I bet if a graphics producer started to make "competing" cards to the PC market, they could clean up. Yes, they would have to produce their own drivers, but they have to do this to a lesser extent on PC's anyway!
So wake up Apple, there is a trick being missed here.
By the way, the word is that XFX will be releasing a range in the summer.
Apart from that, the new macbook looks the biz!!!!!

If that is a typical sample of the macbook, then Apple are going to have a disaster on their hands, that's for sure! I hope it's not for their sake.
