I wanted to share my project here due to the fact AquaMac mods gave me the inspiration to even have a go at this. Anyhow here are the specs, what’s been done and photos. Your views, recommendations are welcome.

Case - Apple MacPro Aluminium Chassis
Completely overhauled to allow a standard ATX motherboard and PSU to fit. Custom I/O shield fabricated from scratch. Fan controller and switch fitted to front and bottom of case. All this has been done discreetly without any evidence of modification. Preserving the original MacPro look was essential.
CPU - Intel i7 950 - 3.06Ghz Quad Core LGA1336
4 overclocking profiles saved to bios.
• 1 Underclocked – Voltage reduced whilst a small upping of clock speed. All fans can be turned off and system run passive.
• 2 Stock – Standard voltage with a slightly more upping of clock speed. All fans can be turned off in this mode.
• 3 Overclocked – Small increase in voltage whilst upping clock speed to 3.6Ghz. Fans set on 20%
• 4 Overclocked - Another bump in clock speed whilst upping clock to 4Ghz. Fans set to 30-40%.
CPU Cooler - Thermalright HR-02 Passive Cooler
Custom cover created using 2 x PowerMac G5 CPU covers
Motherboard - Asus Rampage 3 Gene – MATX SLI LGA1136
Graphics Card - Asus NVidia GTX 470
Overclocked to 800Mhz, got a 4000RM 92mm Delta fan sitting directly behind it!!
Memory Ram - 6GB Corsair Dominator 1600MHz CL7
Power Supply - Corsair HX1000w Modular 1000w
Fully braided cables using black, red and white MDCP braiding. On/Off switch removed and socket pulled out an inch and relocated to centre. Circuit board mounted on outside and 40mm fan attached.
Hard Drive - Samsung PB22-J 64GB SSD Solid State Drive
Fan Controller 1 - Scythe Case Master Q – 3.5” 4 Fan Controller
Custom heat sinks attached and mounted to front of the case with custom knobs. Aluminium cover cut out to cover any wires and to keep with the Mac look.
Fan Controller 2 - Gigabyte Single PCI Fan Controller
DVD Drive - Samsung DVD/CD Burner
Case Fans
• 3 x Delta 120mmx38mm 2900RPM 120CMF
• 1 x Delta 92mmx38mm 4000RPM 90CMF
• 1 x Fractal Design 40mm 4000RPM
All Delta fans rewired to work with PC hardware. All cables braided and extended and routed to front fan controller.
2 Way Switch - On / Off / On Switch with Nipple
Switch fitted to bottom of case (discretly) which allows you to either run fans @ 6v / Turn Fans Completly Off / 12v
Switch at : -
• 6v – Allows you to control fan speed from 0 to 30% power. That’s up 900RPM
• Off – Turn all fan completely off
• 12v – Control fan speed from 30% to 100%. That’s from 900RPM to 2900RPM (4000RPM for the 92mm fan)
Operating System - Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit
