Hi,
I have read in a couple of posts that there are nvidia 7800 gt / gtx cards that already have a 128 kb rom , so no soldering is necessary to flash them to a mac.
Like the ASUS 7800 GTX king Kong, that is unfortunately no where to be found to buy right now)
is there a list of these cards or could we compile one ?
best regards bubba

Hi bubbahoteb,
Unfortunately, of the same manufacturers cards , some will have 64 kb chip and some will be 128 kb. So there are no hard and fast rules. I think I may already have one flashed to work in Mac Pro 1,1. It is flashed to work as Quadro FX 4500 but is only 256 mb. The rom was fixed to account for the 256 mb, if you are interested I could sell it. It is a Dell card. I used it in my mac pro 1,1 when I had that computer.

greetings blacksheep, aqua, bubba... As marginally question, may i resolder every rom with 128k in size? Or are GTX/GT particular dealing with kind of chips?! RS-Components keep some of ST. best rubberduck

I think that you can solder any EEPROM with package and voltage range matching to original one. And you need to find proper nvflash version, which supports chip you want to use.
