I tried forever to get my device ID changed to a Quadro using nibitor. After alot of research I came up with this.
Back up your Geforce rom (keep two copies, one for backup, one to edit)
Flash your card using the windows version of the nvflash utility with the card you want to turn your geforce into. (Example: I turned my 260 into a 4800. Some people wanted to change a 285 to a 280 for sli reasons and so forth, this will probably work for that too, but I haven't tested it.)
When flashing use nvflash -4 -5 -6 -j TargetCardName.rom (This will force flash the romstrap to be overridden.)
Do not restart your computer.
Flash your card again using nvflash -4 -5 -6 -g Original.rom (This will keep the rom straps of the target card, but will flash the rest of your original bios.)
Back up the rom you made and name rename it for back up.
What happens is nvflash kept the rom straps of the Target Card and flash the rest of your bios. In my example, it has all the correct timings and memory, clock speed and everything, but reads as a 4800, with all the benefits.
Now you should have your original bios, so all your ram settings and clock settings are working, except your rom strap should be set to the new card. When you restart windows should see the new rom straps and you can install the new driver.
From what I read nibitor can change the device id, but doesn't change the rom straps, and the rom straps is the key to it.
I hope I have explained it well, and feel free to post this on other forums without crediting me. I don't care about being part of the "scene" i just wanted to try to help since other people have helped me in the past.
