Well, since my Quicksilver was gutted and parted out, i had acquired a new system thanks to my roommate. Yes, i went to the dark side and got all PC parts, but now i want to go to an even darker side and install OS X on this beast. I found online a tutorial to install 10.6.2 on my machine, but i want your guys opinion. Link here. Now is that the way to go, or do you guys have a different opinion? Here are the specs of my machine and what types of problems will i run into? Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 555 @ 3.2 GHz Memory: 2X 2 GB DDR3 1333 Hard drive: SATA II 250 GB DVD Drive: 2X SATA Samsung DVD-RW Video: ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 @ 1 GB Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H

www.leohazard.com/Hazard has done a lot of work getting AMD to SL working together, at least what I've read. Good luck! I've been playing around with a leopard based Hackie for 5 years now, but I'm thinking I'm going to real thing. I'm saving for a MacPro Dual Quad and be done with it!

I tried his torrent, but they were corrupted, and i also tried his alternative rar file link but that ISO file didn't work out so well. I have an actual 10.6.0 dvd image, but i need to know how to make it all work on my machine. I tried the hard drive in a can method, but for some odd reason the external case hooked up via USB to my powerbook G4 just turns off. No reason, just does. So i need to figure out either dual CD booting, or USB key booting, or something along those lines.

If you go this route, make sure that during install you change your multiplier for your CPU to 15 or below until you install my modified kernel. You will get a kernel panic otherwise due to a mistake in the original kernel design and AMD processors running at higher than 3.0 GHz. My kernel can be found here: osx86.net/f36/blackknight-anv-qoopz-based-kernel-w-corrected-phenom-t5112/. I can recommend iDeneb 1.6 as an install disc. It should have just about everything you need to get started. There really isn't much that you need to get it to work. I recommend installing Chameleon v2 RC3 and netkas's PC_EFIv10.6. The rest is all injectors that make things look prettier. You might also need the latest Realtek network driver which can be found on their website. Also, make sure you set all SATA ports to AHCI mode. Your 3870X2 probably won't work with Snow Leopard either. You should really go with a 4000 series card as they are the most compatible and easiest to get working. A 4870 will easily outperform a 3870x2 and works great with Snow Leopard with little to no modifications to kexts. Good luck.
