Hey all
Well I have my Hack up and running (finally) had to use myhack on my Asus Rampage Gene II. Only loader I could get to work.
Im having a hard time figuring this all out. I need help figuring out why my bios is saying Im running dd3 1066 ram which I bought 1600, and I have the new 930 i7 processor.
Well when I look at my system profiler it says this Hardware Overview:
Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro3,1 Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 2.80 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 8 MB Memory: 6 GB Bus Speed: 533 MHz Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05 SMC Version (system): 1.30f3 Serial Number (system): SOMESRLNMBR Hardware UUID: 11213EEA-18B5-552B-8F2A-64D2391E1097
I do have 6 gig memory in it but thats the only thing that is right.
I have been reading something about a smbios.plist but I dont know how to modify plist. and I have some kext files that go along with my board but I dont know how to install them-I dont know how to use terminal that well.
Id like to get this thing running like it should.
anyone that can help -I would appreciate it
Matt

Not being rude or anything but you will need to do a lot more searching and reading, this is how you learn. You might want to start by googling smbios.plist. Somewhere on this thread is a GUI plist editor. aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=hack1&action=display&thread=569for the kext google for "kext helper" if your uncomforable with terminal. Other forums you can go to are insanelymac and infinitemac.

Hey Jedric
Thats cool --I cant find a smbios on my system -I tried to put one on it and I messed it up-It wouldnt boot --So I was just looking for a little guidance.
I found a kext helper and got those installed.
I guess my biggest problem right now is the negative VRAM issue

Matt,
If I remember correctly smbios.plist is inside the AppleSMBIOS.kext so you wont find that as a file. kext are like a compress file. Its a file containing multiple files.
A couple of years ago you have to go inside the AppleSMBIOS.kext and edit the smbiosplist.plist
With the development of the PCEFI and chameleon you can now specify a directory where this plist can be located.
by default you put it in /Extra.
When you are talking about the vram im assuming you are talking about the graphics card. Both the Chameleon and the PCEFI have some graphics card support so you dont need kext.
