Hey All
New to the forum here and new to building a MAC Pro Mod. Almost complete after lots of modification.
The one thing I need help with are.... What screw type do I use with the original motherboard post. I got some at the hardware store the other day but they arent fitting real tight.
What should I get to make the board more secure to the post

Hi macguy4u
Mac screws are special screws. But the screws form the G4 Mac are the same. You can buy a broken G4 at Ebay, then you have the right screws.
I hope this can help you.

I was on the same boat not to long ago, I have tried Rona, Home Depot, Canadian Tire without success.
In my backyard was an old IBM pc that I picked up when my neighbor threw it out. I opened it up and to my surprise the the MB screws are the same size as what is used on the MacPro.
So try to look for an old IBM pc that somebody might be throwing out or look around for some PC shop that has some old IBM's and they might be able to sell you the screws at a cheaper price.
MacPro MB screws are really expensive they are $20 for 5 pieces.
I believe the front panel board use the same size.

They are M3.5 screws. Note that this is NOT the same as M3-.5, commonly sold at HD, Lowes, etc. (These are actually M3 screws with .5 pitch to the thread, which is normally 0.6 on M3 screws).
If you have a Grainger nearby, they sell packs of 25 for a couple of bucks. The ones I got were long, but some quick hacksaw work made them fit perfect.
