Come on people, this forum is looking dead for the winter time. Anyway to make this board a little more active?

I guess we are going to need some more interesting ideas or mods! I am looking forward to the Christmas break when I intend a fairly major revamp to the main site. So is your Quicksilver up & running yet? Also lots of stuff going on in the background Lots of effort has been going into getting the Gainward card up to 512 megs seen, & much has been learned. Ritalin has put in some real major effort on this and rewritten the rom which shows 512, but the only when the NVDAResman.kext has been removed from the extensions folder which unfortunatly means so acceleration. NVDAResman needs to be hacked now & not the rom. This is a bit tricky. Much testing has gone on. Did you see this info - sounds interesting: omni.starchaser.org/aquamac

That would be cool to see a revamp to the site. But for right now it's looking good as is. As for the QS, the plans for that have been put on the backburner. I will want one for a server and a MDD 800 for a main, or i might just get a Mac Pro. Right now, as of next week, i might have a job with Dell. Second interview and we shall see what happens then. As for the vid cards, i hope that can be done. Like i said, an X1900 in a G4 would blow away the 7800's but what would be the next cool thing is the newest Nvidia flagship in a mac. The 8800 card with 700 some odd ram. Now that would be a killer in a system! Interesting read on Project Titan.

I think I am going to give this Project Titan a go with 10.4.8.

Speaking of using OSx86, how is that machine doing? Is it going faster than the original install i gave you? Or is it still a little sluggish?

Still pretty sluggish but looking at Gotoh's install of 10.4.8 with the titan kext installed looks to be the way forward - any Nvidia graphics card, well I have to give that a go. By the way, good luck with the Dell job!

Thanks. Oh, just found a G3 card for the 6400. Either a 350 or a 400 that can be pushed to 450MHz. A better server than the Dell and it would be X compliant.

Hey nice find, would be good to see this documented when you are up & running and the project is complete. This bittorrent should be renamed bitdribble! 12 hours and 315 megs of 2.3 gigs. I have 8 meg broadband, so I am not sure what the problem is. Maybe peers being in the US do you think. Ave download speed is 8.1 Kibs.

Well it looks like every man and his dog are going the hackintosh root. I might just be a lemming and follow suit. I'm going to have to start from scratch as my aging PC definitely isn't up to the job of running OS X (no SSE3). First off I will have to get rid of EEC graphic card mountain that hogging all my space at the moment.
I think the NV 8800 would be a non starter at the moment due to the lack of drivers in OS X. Let's hope Apple don't take an age before they start using it in their line up. The x1900 would be nice for use AGP users, but I think the AGP version is actually a mobile GPU, so again it could be a problem finding a suitable driver at the moment.
BitDribble LOL sounds a bit messy :-)

Well I just hit 30 kiB/s, which is nearly as fast as a 56 modem and got really exited for a moment, but no fear, bitdribble dropped down to 6 kiB/s again just as I punched the air shouting "Go Dribble Go"!
The hackintosh route sounds interesting, you don't need an SSE3 processor necessarily, Gotoh achieved pretty good results with an AMD, I have an AMD too, but in previous attempts has run really slow. However I get the feeling things have moved on now. Certainly would be nice to use some decent hardware & a good OS together.
If I ever get it going at a reasonable lick, I feel a G5 case with PC inards project comong on. That is of course bitdribble permitting! ;D
