Here's an odd request for you all. I have a 6800GToc that I believe might be a silver bullet. In its past life it once got all the way up to 122oC and I got it on the cheap when the owner moved on to PCI-e. Now that it's a Mac card I can't get it over58 590C under load. That's where you guys come in. I have run the Halo time demo(lots of time in a row, OpenMark, OpenGL Extensions Viewer, and hours of Unreal Tournament 2K4) and still get it past warm. Any suggestions for a killer GPU test? This all goes towards my evil plan of overclocking the living @#$% out of this card ;D
Thanks, Chris

Chris, Your crazier than a coconut, 122 C will kill that card! In all seriousness OpenMark should be enough to stress test the card. I wouldn't do this (I would be happy as is), but here is my suggestion: OverClock the GPU in small increments until ether - 1) a thrashing with OpenMark warms the card to the desired temp (I suggest no more than 80 C). 2) artifacts appear. 3) or until the cookies are a golden brown colour. At witch point you should remove them from the iOven. Repeat above with memory clocks.

Rit, Crazy? Yes. ;)Did the card get up to 122 oC? Oh yea. For some reason the nVidia gods deemed 120 oC an excellent set point for the overheat alarm. When I first put it in the Mac it shot up to 88 oC which tells me the rev.1 coolers SUCK! as much as that silly copper and blue LED thing they are strapping on the later models. I have one of each and they mirror each other on load temps with the stock coolers. Actually, I'd be happy if I could get it back to factory specs (370/500) since the ROM in question is 350/500. You know the one, the DVI enabled low voltage miracle from Arti. Cookies? I suddenly have an idea that involves the 3.5" drive bay! My easy bake Mac (I really like iOven better). Think of it, You could almost fit some sort of nuke and puke style treat in there. Add a software based timer and BAM! you're multi-tasking baby! Thanks for the excellent advice. Cheers, Chris
