Hey people,
I recently bought a Sapphire X800XT Platinum Edition AGP 256 MB. The card has a Core: 520 Mhz and Memory at 560 (1120) Mhz. Now I want to flash the card with X800XT Mac Rom 109 from Strangedogs.com, I opend the Rom with Hex Editor and found that the Device ID is 48 4A on lines 3 & 8. Now wich Device ID should I change it to, to get the card working in my Mac as a X800XT?
Thanks.
Heiko

Hi dopeman, Here are the device id's for the X800 range: AGP RADEON X800 Series = 4A49, 4A4A, 4A4B. 4A49 X800 Pro. X800?? 4A4B. RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition = 4A50. ATI FireGL X3-256 = 4A4D. PCI Express RADEON X800 SE (R423) = 554B RADEON X800 Series (R430) = 554F, 554D RADEON X800 PRO (R423) = 5549 RADEON X800 XT (R423) = 5D57 RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition (R423) = 554A RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition (R480) = 5D4D RADEON X850 Series (R480) = 5D4F, 5D52 ATI FireGL V5100 (R423GL) = 5551 ATI FireGL V7100 (R423GL) = 5550 I would still check your device id in a PC using atiflash with the command atiflash -i 0. This should list all cards in your system. You may still end up using the default 4A 48 (Written in the rom as 48 4A). Also check out the strangedogs thread here and read through.... Click Here

Thanks for the info, the card has a DID 4A50 but only works with the 4A48 ID. The Card works flawless in my MDD and makes Doom 3 and Quake 4 come alive. I also found that if you dump the PC Rom from the card with ATI Multi Dumper on OSX you get the original PC Rom and a Text output that lists all the important info like Device ID and Vendor ID, so it dosent matter if you stick the Card in a PC to get the Device ID or other informations. Again I thank you AquaMac for all your support and help.

Hey Dopeman, I am really pleased you got this going and it sounds like you had the same experience as me with the device id. Still, this keeps things simple and looks genuine in sys profiler. This is still one of the fastest cards you can put in a MDD. In fact you will end up CPU bound with anything under dual 1.42, but still you know that your graphics card will not be holding you back!
Congrats!
