Well, due to my sawtooth running real hot with the fans and all, my GPU and hard drives got to a nice toasty 60 degrees celcius. NOT GOOD!! So i decided to take a page from Aqua-Macs MDD and Quicksilver mods. A dual fan on top for exhaust. Yes my cutting isn't the straighest, nor is it the best, but i like it and it gets the job done. This is a pic during the process. I used the fans for the 4 hole template and i used a jigsaw for cutting out the center holes. Here is the finished product in running order. Now my hard drives are at a constant 40 degrees celcius and my GPU is at a constant 44. Better than the 52 when i first put it in. Maybe at the end of the month i might buy some fan guards and make it look real nice and cool. I'm thinking maybe a couple of these...

Well done JJ,
The fan guards should finish off any uneveness, but what a difference it makes removing the trapped hot air. Temperatures plummet to levels that are far more sensible! I have a couple of nice Unreal Tournament fan guards I would give you but I fear the postage would exceed what they cost!

Well, if you want, i can send you money for them at the end of the month. Also i am picking up a new bike frame for €72 ($100 CND)also so i will be a little tight on cash, but it should all work out.
Yeah, the comp has been on for an hour and 15 min and the gpu is still saying 44 degrees celcius and it's still quiet and still pouring out cool air. As we speak, i open the case and the vid heatsink is cold, the internal 120 is blowing cold air and the heatsink is cold to the touch. Even the power supply on auto is silent. I love this!!!!

I would guess it would be about £7.00 postage off the top of my head though it may be cheaper?

Nice work. Somehow the red LED seems to go with it particularly well. Just out of curiosity, what type/brand/size fans did you use?
Personally, I'd prefer traditional fan grilles, but that's just me...

As for the brand of fans that i used, i have no idea. All i know is that they are quiet and that's the way i like my fans. I am going to get some special order fans and grills so that my mod will have more of an evil afterglow. The type of fans that they are are just your standard run of the mill 80mm or 8cm 4 pin molex fans. I think traditional fan grills are ok, but if you want the retro 80's/90's look, then go with them. If you want a modern look, then maybe some led or laser cut grills. Here is what i am looking to replace all my fans in my tower (except my power supply fans) 80mm red led120mm red ledX-Blade 80mm fangrillX-Blade 120mm fangrillNotice how the 120mm fan doesn't get over 22dB? That is really hard to find for a large fan.

That 120 fan should light the inside of your case OK. Also 22db is extremely quiet for such a size. Look forward to seeing that little lot installed!

Thanks for the info. I've seen some 120 mm "22 dBa" fans from Nexus but I think in reality they're something like 23-24 dBa.
Perhaps now that you've put some rather aggressive cooling on your Sawtooth, you can maybe try to do some overclocking?

I wish i could overclock this processor. 1.6GHz would be nice but i don't know anyone that has overclocked a Sonnet processor. If you have any info, it would be handy.
