I've been frustrated to no end trying to get a 9650 Pro to work in my MDD dual G4! I saw somewhere on StrangeDog.com in an unrelated post that someone successfully did it, but gave no reference as to how. I think the difference and issue may be mine is a 400FW and the persnon's was an 800FW, but I didn't think that would be enough of a difference.
I already know about taping up the 3rd and 11th pin on the card, which helped allow my Mac to start up, to where as before it wouldn't even do that. Now I can't get video unless, of course I start up in safe mode, which makes me believe it can be done.
ANYONE have ANY other suggestions to get this to work?!!?
THANKS!!

For some reason which I'm unclear about, it seems that flashed cards usually work best in the FW 800 variant of the MDD.
Sorry I can't help you any further. It seems that that StrangeDogs people haven't tested Radeon 9650s...

Well - I've got a 400FW, and I don't know if that's the issue. Someone there (Lenk) posted a message saying they were successful. I just don't know how to get hold of them. For some reason thought it might be the creator of this site, but maybe not? I sent them a private message through StrangeDog, but that only posts them a private message there- it doesn't sent them a private email. (bogus) Here's what mentioned on StrangeDog in a different subject post: Re: Do-it-yourself X800 Reply #139 on Mar 13, 2006, 9:14am By: Lenk strangedogs.proboards40.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=experiments&thread=1114473559&page=10#1142259253I'm running out of time though - gonna have to send the card back to the seller. Fortunately for me, they advertised the card as a 9600, so I should be able to get a full refund.

Hi Barry,
Are you saying, you have a mac 9650AGP from a G5? I have successfully used a 9600XT from a G5 in a FW400 just taping 3 & 11. You say you got it working in safe mode, what happens if you start up normally, do you get to the blue screen then freeze? Are you running the latest version of Tiger? I do not feel the 800/400 should be an issue here.
Steve.
