Well all, I have been fortunate enough to get a copy (legal) of Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. This is a HOSS of a software package and runs great! A BIG thanks to Ritalin for his help (see his post) as without FlexLM this whole deal is a wash. So there is a nice little behchmark that employs PS called SpeedTest by Retouch Artists that gives a nice test of your system and offers an even playing field across OS's and various build of the manufacturer of your choice (that would be Apple)and I use it along with a few others to wring out my system. I had an interesting discovery today after I installed CS3 on both operating systems to see how much difference there is (if any). First a few details: C2D E6700 2.66 Ghz 3.2 GB of DDR2 PC 5300 500GB Sata HD (OS X) 500GB Sata HD (XP MCE 2005) nVidia 7950 GT 256 (3D acceleration helps) So, I always do one run to loosen up the system and then run 4 tests to average. You will need a stopwatch or another computer with something like X-note for the timing purposes. Then just run the test and record the results. Here's mine- Run on XP- 3min 35secs Run on OS X (10.4.9)- 41.7secs! Interesting that CS3 still favors OS X (That's an understatement!) So, anybody out there with CS3? Maybe a quad core (Aqua)? I'd love to see some other hackie results. Cheers, Chris

I guess Chris means this post. I'm glad it worked OK, when I made the post it was pretty much theory as I don't have any software that relies on FlexLM. No CS3 for me. Chris, thats a impressive advantage OSX is showing when running CS3. Is the XP version Home or Pro? Not sure if the Home version use both cores of the C2D.

Rit, I'm using XP MCE 2005 and according to Asus' PC probe app CS3 is indeed using both cores. However, when I'm setting up history states, caches, and memory usage a large discrepancy appears. While my system has 4GB of RAM (3.2 available as the BIOS hijacks 896 MBs for it own nefairious deeds) CS3 only shows 1707 MB available in windows whereas CS3 OS X offers up almost all (3070 MB) the available RAM. I can't see this being the whole issue but it makes me wonder. I need to experiment more.
Cheers, Chris
