Your board should be happy with the first PCI address installed but might kernel panic with both PCI addresses installed. No one knows quite why this should happen, but I am hoping as your hardware is at least similar to a mac pro you may have some luck.

My heart break........ after I make the new com.apple.boost.plist and reboot my computer, it just crash in the white apple sign and show that big power button with 4 different languages to ask me power off, and when I boot again, it still crash in the same place with same situation.

I think the tutorial is awesome and totally make sense but because my card is different from two separate cards so maybe I did something wrong during making the string.

So, I re-install OSX again and this time, I am pretty sure I unchecked DSDT and anything about graphic card, so I don't have nvinject, nvkush, natit, DSDT that kind of thing installed. And I do the GFX string again, this time is a little bit better, after reboot, OSX didn't show that horrible big power-off sign with 4 different languages to me but computer still crash in the white apple sign.

In the tutorial you mentioned about boot with -f, maybe I should try that, I just open the terminal and type "reboot -f" right? If it still doesn't work, is there anyway to tell what's wrong?

At last post I told you that my computer crashed during booting, do you know any possible reason causing that?

Hi,

If you want to try just one card, do a GFX string correctly for one card only. It may be the dual card that is causing the kernel panic at boot and that may be alleviated by only the first card being set up with GFX strings.

I totally agree with you that make first card work first, and then try to get the second card work in the string and amalgamate the plist files later.

I re-install the OS and only tried one card which is the first PCI address. After rebooting the system still crash in the white apple screen. Heart break again..........

Then I booted again with -v and I noticed that the booting stop at "ACPI-SMC-Plateform plugin: Register LPCDriver --WARNING-- LPC device initialization failed: C-State power management not initialized. When the command line stop here, the second card fan of my FX 4500 x2 also stop, the first card fan still running. I don't know what that means but maybe you can tell what's wrong with it?

One thing I want to tell you is I found that my second card is just like totally dead, even I connect monitor it still no signal out

At this moment, I really frustrated, I still want to fight for this card but I don't know what I can do now. Maybe I should go back to the original idea which is flash my card. Do you have any advice about this?

Also, I know if nothing works, maybe I need to consider put my GTX280 in to this computer and put my FX 4500 x2 back to my Dell XPS. (Just in case you confused, I have two PC, one is Dell XPS 630 with GTX 280 on it, the other one is the one I plan to install OS X with FX 4500 x2, I only plan to use XPS as my general use or play games, and the one with FX 4500 x2 will be my working station since I need to use Apple Final Cut Pro, Maya and other VFX software very often....., however, it doesn't make any sense to put GTX280 in the mac and then open Maya, FCP or VFX program, and put FX 4500x2 in my XPS and play the game...........

I really want to hear your advice about this, and very appreciate about it.

As I said at the beginning the card you have is motherboard dependent. I never managed to get my 7800 GX2 running in OSX even though I got two 9800 GX2's running on the same motherboard. I did get one card running but as soon as completed the GFX string going for the second card I got a kernel panic at boot. I also flashed my card and corrected the rom to no avail. I looked on Insanely mac for the post that I remembered but I think it has been deleted unfortunately. I suggest you get OSX running fine first with a different card and no graphics drivers, then add your com.apple.boot.plist. The second monitor will not do anything in OSX until it is initialised, so that is quite normal.

Well done xflight, Link 3 was the one, but reading back through it, the guy never got back to really explain how he fixed it. I read through again, the 7950 GX2 (I was looking for 7800 GX2 - doh!) should be a similar setup to your card. The guy was using 10.5.2, but someone said that support would be gone in 10.5.3. Might be worth downloading his kexts, having a look inside - perhaps he added his device id to some of them like NVDAResman.kext, NVDANV50Hal.kext & GeForce.kext.

By the way, I read the post at least 5 times and I don't understand that "Ironfly" guy said: "...if i understand correctly, you have the leo graphic update...", what does he means? Does Leo has any graphic update or I need to install it at the first time I install the OS? Do I need to find any driver support Quadro FX4500? I think it better just ask you because that guy seems disappeared so far....Maybe, the reason I keep failing is just because I don't have proper driver installed in my computer, right?

Edit: After trying "Ironfly" way, still got panic in booting. One thing I want to know is if there is really no driver for FX4500x2 because Ironfly talked about graphics driver. I think at this moment I have used almost all of my power try to get my card working but I am not the lucky guy and my card doesn't show any love.

I decide to offer a $100 cash reward to anyone who can solve my problem. I have post in some website about the reward. Hopefully this can dig me out of this nightmare.

I think at this point I have spent too much time on my Quadro FX, so I decide just pull out this card and wait to see if there is any solution in the future.

I still remember I have a BFG GeForce 9600GT 512MB I bought last year but I haven't used it for a while. Today I went to my storage and find this card. I think I am going to put this card in my computer and see if OSX can work with this card.

Can I ask you a question? If I want to flash my 9600GT to Quadro FX, it is possible to be done? I know you flash your card to FX5800, I just want to make sure I can do it. It will be awesome if you have more information about it.

This will be dependent on the device id of your 9600 GT. You will have to check as they were assigned a number of device id's. Whether it can be flashed depends on if there is a Quadro with a similar device id with just the last number that can be changed.

Hello Aquamac,

One thing very awesome for sure is when I pull out my Quadro FX4500 x2 and replace the GeForce 9600 GT, it only took me 10 minutes to enable everything for my 9600GT card just by following your tutorial. Now my OSX just looks so nice in my 26 inch monitor. I will still try to set up my Quadro FX and I will post here when I make it.

Although I haven't figure out how to set up my Quadro FX4500, I still feel better to see my 9600GT working so fine. Thank you so much Aquamac, it is hard to imaging how the OSX86 can keep going without you.

I am back. I am still keep trying everything I can for my FX4500x2 but still no love. However, I just meet a very good deal of 8800GTX, someone want to sale his 8800GTX to me. I still remember I saw you post how to flash 8800GTX to Quadro FX5600 including rom and NVinject kext. Maybe that's good chance for me.....

Can I ask you few questions:

1. In your website, you used BFG 8800GTX 768mb to flash to FX5600, do I really need to buy 8800 from BFG? I mean, what if it is not made by BFG such as XFX or others? Will it still work?

2. I also see you attached the NVinject kext at the same web page.I guess that's meas if I successfully mod 8800GTX to FX5600 and install in my computer, I can no longer use EFI string to run my 9600GT anymore. (I already have 9600GT installed and I am currently no planing to take it out). Is there any solution?

That mod worked well up to 10.5.6 but then something changed and the card's kernel panic'd after that. I had a number of people contact me saying that it will not work with 10.5.6. So my suggestion would be, get something like an 8800 GT and flash it to Quadro FX 3700 if you really want to use a cheap Quadro in Windows/OSX. I did a couple of roms for this which are sticky'd over in the Nvidia section at Insanely Mac.
I did one for 1024 mb cards and one for 512 mb cards. Works well on windows and OSX. If you want to use 2 cards in your PC, it is a case of suck it and see although the chances are far greater if you can set your bios to boot from peg2 (the second card). If you are interested I have one (a 512 mb card) that you could make me an offer on. Tested in both operating systems!
