So the drivers worked great, but if everyone has kept up on insanelymac, dual monitors are not supported. Some users used EFI strings with success, but the only 280 EFI strings in your guide are for snow leopard only. Will these work for leopard as well? I apologize for my ignorance, still trying to figure this whole deal out.

Hi asfastas63
Yes, dual monitors work fine with strings, the computer I am writing this from is using dual monitors and a GeForce GTX 280 in Leopard! The strings are universal between Leo and Snow. When I put up that upload, the GTX 280 had no support in Leopard - that has now changed. One word of warning though to anyone using Snow Leo, GFX strings produces an incorrect string that sticks at the blue screen. The workaround is to make your string in Leopard.
The post on GFX strings has now had the bit about Snow Leopard only removed.

Netkas announced updated injectors on his site, does that change the install process at all aqua? netkas.org/?p=107Just trying to see which installer to run, or both?

Better yet, there are also now modified eVGA 285 drivers that will work on a non-MacPro. How about this with injection method? GTX 2xx drivers from EVGA site Clean injection method with the 10.5.2 gfx update & apple updated drivers worked best for me back when I had a 9800gtx, have yet to have a system that functions that well with a gt200b chip (260 55nm & now a 285 here).

I installed the drivers on a chameleon, 10.5.7 retail i7-based PC, and am now able to use my gtx285, however, Core Image says software, and quartz extreme shows as not supported. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks.

Cappie, Yes the drivers support the GTX 275! It is natively supported in Snow Leopard so you do not need to install drivers but you can download drivers above that are for Leopard only. imacmill, You did not say which injector you are using or if you are using GFX strings? From what I see you are using Netkas's injector. I would modify your com.apple.boot.plist as explained here. After you have done that you can delete Netkas's injector from your System/Extensions folder - do not delete it before otherwise your screen will turn black on boot and you will not see your desktop.

Thanks aquamac. It still doesn't work.
I followed precisely the instructions at your link for plist modification, then did the following (I more or less guessed which files, as I have no idea what constitutes an 'injector', much less NetKas' injector):
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/ATY_Init.kext sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/NVInject.kext
I then rebooted. Same thing: Core Image: Software, Quartz Extreme: Not Supported.
Is there other injects I should be removing, and did I remove them correctly? Also, the GFX strings instructions state that I must have EFI 8.0 OR Chameleon for it to work. My boot loader has a chameleon on it, so I assume I good there. Is there some way I can verify if the plist info is actually being used at startup?
Please excuse my ignorance, and thanks for any help.

@aquamac: I figured out what I was doing wrong. The link you provided for using GFX strings says to add the GFX string to:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist
However, I am using Chamelon RC2.0, and it keeps (and uses) a copy of the same file in:
/Extra
I edited the plist file in there instead of the one in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration.
Also, I found ATY_Init.kext in /Extra/Stored_Kexts, which I removed. I then updated the cache, rebooted, and all is swell in video card land, as evidenced below:
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 DDL Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 1024 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x05e3 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: 3172a Displays: iZ3D Back: Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-Bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported QuartzGL: Supported Display Connector: Status: No Display Connected
Thanks for leading me to the starting point. Do you (or anyone else) know a good program to benchmark my graphics performance? I'd like to post the results here.

Found this on netkas site, netkas.org/?p=109there are GTX 285 drivers at this address rapidshare.de/files/47522089/NVIDIA...6.mpkg.zip.htmlThis is a special modded installer that avoids checking for real mac pro and allows hackintosh I don't know if it is the same but a friend told me that his VGA worked fine with these things if it is not appropriate or it's the same tell me I'll delete the post

Aquamac, would you say EFI strings method is better or this driver for a hackie like mine? I'm running SL and the gtx280 with EFI strings currently.
