hi i have prob yesterday i did a rom up date at my macPPC 1G dual MDD update from : 4.4.7f2 to : 4.4.8f2 well i dont know why but with the addition of 2 12' funs i have redused the heat prob without the use of new heat sink as a result many app that would crush before now run well ok up to a point that is
after the up date of the rom to : 4.4.8f2 well the heat prob reapeared ...... i went and modified on Fan Kexts as aquamac show here that helped little a huge ty to aquamac but still the prob is there the temperature is raising extremly faster than before and crushes things apps ... tho after the heat drops easily too
Hardware Overview:
Machine Model: Power Mac G4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.1)
Number Of CPUs: 2
CPU Speed: 1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.4.8f2
1 is ther any way to go back to : 4.4.7f2or uninstall Boot ROM Version: 4.4.8f2 or flash out and reinstall Boot ROM Version: 4.4.7f2 ?
2 is there anything else that i can do to go back to the balance of the heat that i had before the update of the Boot ROM Version: 4.4.8f2 ? since i havent overclocked my dual 1G MDD yet
3 can anywone think why thats happened since i update of Boot ROM Version: 4.4.8f2 ? i did it coz altho i have mac os x tiger 10.4.11 in a partition i cant really use it for long coz most app crash down after minutes at best even safari or firefox i dont know why that is keep happening but thought maybe with that rom update i could reinstall tiger (or leo 10.5.6 server that i have too and that has never been installed with Stability coz of the heat , nap mod dont work properly there ) and work with Stability panther 10.3.9
p.s from the apps Temperature Monitor and X Resource Graph that i am am useing i realise that after i update my boot rom the usage of ram and disk is spiking up and without a real reason seam to idle hight that cause the hard disks to heat up and add to the heat prob i think coz i still use nap mode with panther its working well but the temp is rising regardless the cpu usage
