Minimal case changes... front IO has two FW800 no FW400 and the rear IO has a different layout..
I like the covers/heatsinks on the shipped graphics cards... they pull out board it swanky! not sure why they went with 3 DIMMS over 6! (Oh, that appears to be a model shown thing) Looks like it will be very quiet! Could have been cooler i gotta say..
I'll hack one up if i can get my hands on a case :-)

I recon the layout looks ideal for a bit of hackintoshing. The fan in the mid section should cool your graphics nicely and there is plenty space below for processor cooling too!

Hi guys Its my first post but have you guys read the spec on the less expensive model, it is know a single quad and not a double like its replacing. It looks like the quad will only be able to use 8gb of ram and it has the new nvidia card which has less bandwidth compared to the ati. It seems a though apple are going back to the G5 days when the 1.6 and 1.8 could only use upto 4 GB of ram and I know what people thought about that!! the previouse model cost 1.710 which was the price after vat changed to 15% on the and the new model with with only 4 cores is 1.899!!!!!!!!!!! What do you guy think about this??

Hi Quadromac & welcome to the forums!
You can save around £150 with educational discount but it is still quite pricey. I still think Apple would do well with a slightly less expensive desktop, around the £999 mark. One of the reasons there are so many hacks around is due to the lack of reasonably priced hardware. Not everyone wants an all in one imac and the mac mini doesn't quite do it for me. Don't know why, it's just not upgradable I guess.

I agree, I feel If i could pick up a MacPro quad with say just 2gb RAM 320gb HD and basic GPU I'd pay 900-1000 pounds... just to have a real MacPro running real Apple hardware... half the fun is working to buy a juicy GPU max out ya RAM and have silly amounts of storage. Apple would make a killing with a 999quid MacPro... plus they need to have a cheaper MacMini say 300 for a 2gb 250gb dual 2.4ghz or something.. :-)
