Well I was kicking around looking for a project to do so I set about converting my Zotak 8800 GT 1024 MB PCIe card and NVIDIA 8800 GT 512 MB card to Quadro FX 3700's. This is a bit trickier than normal as just changing the softstraps and device id resulted in the card being displayed as a device id of 0619 instead of the 061A that I was looking for (Quadro FX 3700). Well after much messing around, I managed to get both of them up and running showing up correctly in system profiler with the correct device id & memory. OpenGL Viewer got around a 200 point boost too! Here is a link to the roms: rapidshare.com/files/160383625/aquamac_Quadro_3700_Roms.zipI have only done the 2 cards listed above so far, and before everyone starts PMing me I am away till the end of the week. Also, although these should show up correctly in Hackintosh & Windows I still don't know if there is significant improvement in windows Maya and so forth.

Could you take look at my original rom and see if i have done it with wrong rom? or should i just need to update my kext ? anyway here is the link! rapidshare.com/files/202050705/123.ROM.zip.htmlthanks lots!

I don't understand, the rom you have sent me in the link is for a 8800 GT not Quadro FX 3700? ?

hi aqua the rom that i sent you from my original Msi 8800GT 512mb. Meanwhile the flashed 8800gt shown up as quadro fx 3700 in xp and havn't notice any obious increase in performance yet and i will do couple test later on. But in my osx86 its still shown as 8800gt in the mac system info but will appear as Quadro fx3700 if i run opengl extension viewer. i am wondering that is compatible or not. Btw the way what is the kext that you use for quadro fx3700? i couldn't find anything tho! here is the pic of my system info! rapidshare.com/files/202254076/1.zip.htmlthank lots

One option is to go here and download the files for your card and follow the instructions. You are probably using some form of injector or gfx strings from PCWiz's OSX86 tools. Your card has flashed fine, it is only System profilers reporting that is incorrect. You need to change this by redoing GFX strings.

Hi Aquamac,
Just tested your QuadroFX3700 rom and it works flawlessly in my Win7 64 bit. I used the latest Quadro performance driver (191.78). In Maya 2009, the performance gain was very noticeable. From an average 14 fps (8800GT) to 20 fps (QFX3700) even by enabling the smooth wireframe option.
The performance advantage in OpenGL Extensions Viewer 3.0 was even greater (at least before it crash due to the unsupported Win7 64bit platform, not the softmod or driver issue). It leaps from an average 170 over 1000 fps... When they release the new Win7 version, I'll post the real results.
These are the list of 64bit (pro) apps I tested: Maya2009, Mudbox 2009 SP2, RealFlow 4.3.8, Nuke 5.1v5 & 3D Studio Max 2009.
On the gaming side, the softmod performance is just about the same as 8800GT (tested using the latest 195.62 WHQL driver). These are the games I already tested: HawX, COD MW2, Torchlight, PES 2010, Far Cry 2, Crysis Warhead, NBA 2009 & GRID.
I'll post the result in my Hacintosh 10.5.8 soon...
Anyway, thank you for your time and excellent work with the softmod ROM.

Hi booim and welcome top aquamac forums.
I am really glad to hear of your success with my 8800 GT to Quadro FX 3700 rom and also to hear of the improvements with the programs you mentioned. Should be fine in your hackintosh too. I have been using mine at work for about a year without any problems, so it should be reliable too.

Hello again Aquamac, Just want to let you know, that the Hacintosh didn't work as expected. I mean no QE/CI. NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700 DDL: Chipset Model: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700 DDL Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 512 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x061a Revision ID: 0x00a2 ROM Revision: 3172a Displays: SyncMaster: Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-Bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported QuartzGL: Supported Display Connector: Status: No Display Connected
I install my Hacintosh using iAtkos v7 and upgraded it using iDeneb 10.5.8 combo update. Don't know if it helps, but this installation comes with Chameleon v1 & PC EFI 10. I try to install the Chameleon v2 RC3, but failed... I boot with the -f -v options and there's no error messages. Anyway, my mobo is Intel DP35DP with C2Q 9450... The strange thing is when I used your Zotac 8800GT 512MB softmodded Quadro3700 ROM, regardless the artifacts, QE/CI worked.

Did you try adding the Graphics enabler info to your com.apple.boot.plist instead of device properties. The fact that you have no QE & CI is not the card. You will need to delete and remake your DSDT.aml probably as well if you have one installed.

You will need to delete and remake your DSDT.aml probably as well if you have one installed. I tried those methods, but still no QE/CI. I even update the Chameleon to v2 just to see if it would make any differences, but still doesn't work either. Also try to delete DSDT.aml and came up with the same result... This is my com.apple.Boot.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>custom</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Boot Graphics</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Quiet Boot</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>0</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>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</string> </dict> </plist>Attachments:

You cannot use Graphics enabler and device properties together. You will have to delete one of them!

Hi Aquamac, Still no QE/CI though after changing the com.apple.Boot.plist. I'll play around with these settings again soon after I get my hands on Leopard retail DVD and do all over again installation, maybe after this new year. Anyway, my search for the holy grail continues (the real 8800GT to QFX3700 conversion in Windows) as after flashing the card and installing the quadro drivers, there's still some kind of driver patch needed to truly bring the professional capabilites setting show up in nVidia control panel. You can check the info here: www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=134631&st=60Currently there's no driver patch available for my platform (Win 7 x64), because the latest driver patch is for Quadro Forceware 182.08 and its for Vista x64. The patching is done via RivaTuner script called NVSoftQuadroX and here's the link: forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=264654&highlight=nvsoftquadrox&page=1I guess I was too excited after getting an already great improvements in some apps in Windows while there should be an even more improved performance once the driver's patching is done. Once again, thank you for your time and great help Aquamac.
