First post. & I need help installing all my drivers. I read all the threads here, for some reason I just can't get the main ones to work. Specially the vidcard. I'm currently running -EPA45-UD3P Mobo. Evga 9800GTX VCard. As of now.. I have installed Full Leopard Retail Dvd 10.5.6. I didn't have to upgrade from the website. I have the disk itself. All that said.. I followed everything there is from this forum and other forums. I get no luck trying to get the kexts and strings for my vid card driver to work. I have used OSx86 UInstaller for all the kexts. I even installed the Nvidia 9 Installer.. and still no luck. Please help me... thanks. -Win

Hi, If you have 10.5.6, you do not want to install this driver, it is only for 10.5.5. So you either need to reinstall the 10.5.6 kexts I have provided and then repair your kext permissions. Have you tried NVDarwin or NVKush kexts. You can only use one of them. You must also repair kext permissions after doing this. You can download the kext permissions script from here. Just double click it and leave it to do it's thing for five minutes. To install kexts the easy way use this download (kexthelper b7 which will save you having to fiddle with permissions and it will automatically install them in the correct place). You will not need strings if you use NVDarwin.kext or NVKush.kext.

Hey aquamac,
I've been trying to get my 9600 gt working for a while now. I've tried your installer, NVDarwin, and GFX strings but nothing works! Through the GFX strings, I am getting 1680x1050 resolution on my monitor fine, but there is no Hardware Acceleration in Core Image. CI shows up as Software Acceleration. Also, there is no QE support. My card is a XFX 512 mb 9600 gt, and I'm runnin 10.5.6 with vanilla nvidia kernels.
Thanks for the help in advance!

Hi Calvin,
Did you install the strings manually as described in my walkthrough or did you use OSX Tools. OSX Tools does no inject as much info as the manual way (13 sets of instructions as opposed to 21 sets manually). Are you using a Retail disc type install with a separate boot-loader (preferred) or one of the pre-made distros.

I'm runnin 10.5.6 retail install using EFI v9. I've tried using the gfxutil creating the hex code, as well as using OSX86 tools, and UInstaller as well. So far, I've only been able to get resolution set.
thanks in advance!

Hello aquamac! I'm new to osx86. I'm running iDeneb 10.5.6 on a G31M-ES2L motherboard. The GMA 3100 on my motherboard only supports 1024*768 and no QE/CI. So I want to buy a 9XXX card. 9800GT is the highest I can afford since I only get 400W for power. Depends on the simplicity of driver installation, which model you will recommend?9400/9600/9800? Thx!

sharer, I am pretty sure that the GX2 will not work with your motherboard. I tried it in a GA X48-DQ6 and that did not work either. For any chance of it to work it has to be in pcie slot 2 with the bios set to boot from it (peg 2). Download in.plist HerePersonally, I don't think your motherboard will work. You will need to modify your PCI addresses for your board too. gabrie, Get the 9800 series if you can.

Hi Aquamac..
I have the same problem with my QE/CI
My laptop is almost the same as the obliviux's one
the difference is that my card is a 512M 9800m GS but is an Asus G50VT
so..
I've the original drivers of my IPC 10.5.6 Final, I just added the EFI String of my device following your instructions, deleted the NVDAResman and the system gave me the right information without any other modification
NVIDIA GeForce 9800m GS:
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9800m GS Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 512 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x062b Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: 3172a Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 720 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported QuartzGL: Supported Display Connector:
But if I dont delete the NVDAResman, and I reboot with an external monitor, I've image until the apple logo.. but after that the main monitor turns black, and I receive an image in the external monitor, but as a slave monitor.. just the background without menus or anything else
I'd really appreciate if you could help me..
cheers

Hey aquamac, seems like I've been following you all over the net today. You're doing an awesome job. I've been reading back and man am I confused! This is driving me crazy! If I could just get Safari scrolling to where it actually scrolls instead of freezes most of the screen I'd be happy. As a lot of the people in this post I'm running an Asus G50...Except mine is the original... The problem is they're using an nvidia 9700M GT...Not GTS which I know the deviceid is 0x062b mine is 0x064A(as seen below). I'm not sure what to do. I don't have an EFI string. I ran some of those kexts pasted above(One at a time, not two since they conflict with each other). When i installed each i used the tool you gave to avoid permissions issues. I AM running 1.5.6 which is a good thing, but my card just comes up and does not detect as anything special...The most i can set my display to is 1024 x 768... which is driving me crazy since I normally run a lot higher than that....
I'm not sure if there's something I'm supposed to be doing before I install all of this, or something I can install to where I can at least browse on the thing, but at least at this point I'm dual booting with Vista so I have a fallback if needed...
You seem like the expert so I figured you'd be the person to ask. A little side note: I google'd my device id and nvidia and was unable to find anything on it as far as drivers, it doesn't appear to be popular at all, so I'm willing to get my hands dirty and completely screw up this mac install if necessary... Just let me know.
Here is my video card info:
Display:
Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 32 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x064a Revision ID: 0x00a1 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

Hi Mitchevious, You are going to need to create a GFX string. Are you saying that you have a 9700m GTS? It is easy to edit one of the in.plist files in this thread: aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=hack1&action=display&thread=509If you are not sure how to post back and I can do it. You will not get other resolutions without this. Your device id does not matter for GFX strings as your computer is picking this up anyway.

thanks! The part where I'm getting confused is that it says
"Get the attached gfxutil and in.plist (above) and copy them to your desktop" but the only files attached above are the ones for video cards that I don't have. Do I download one of those and modify it for the card that I'm using by following the instructions below that?
P.S. My card is the GT which is technically different than the GTS. It does have 512mb memory so I'll need to make sure I modify that as well.
