I have my AMD on ebay now and may sell it as have a few bids going. I'm planing on building a new hackintosh from one of these . VIA EPIA M10000G Nehemiah Mini-ITX Mainboard with FanThey use the VIA CPU so I have not heard how the OS X will run on those? And the video is the Integrated VIA UniChrome AGP graphics with MPEG-2 accelerator. So maybe I'm going someplace no ones gone before? What do you think of this plan of mine. I want to go into the small form factor and get rid of all this noise and get my desk back. lol Oh ya this will be the case for it.

Hi Candles,
If you are building a hackintosh, there is only one cpu I would recommend, that is a core 2 duo. Anything else brings with it a right load of hassle, I an not sure a via cpu will even work at all. Save your money and get a core 2 duo compatible board, you will thank yourself in the long run.
PS. Is that a cigar box? That would certainly be unusual!!!!

The VIA C3 CPU would be a no go for OSX for sure. The VIA C7 might work, it supports sse3 and NX bit. The problem would be the chipset, I'd bet OSX wouldn't work with the VIA chipset. Getting an OSX compatible Mini ITX board is going to be expensive. You really need an Intel chipset, preferably 945 or better. For the best compatibility you need a CPU with Supplemental Streaming SIMD Extension 3 (SSSE3). Getting this in a mini ITX will be expensive, if you move to micro ATX (which is a little bigger) it will be much much much cheaper.

Yes, that looks like it should work.

As Ritalin says, that looks like a far better proposition. Nice little board. Core 2 Duo, ICH7, Intel 945 chipset, Go for it.

Candles, Looks really cool. How about this for a monitor? Follows the theme nicely I think Here's the whole process in case you get the urge. ;D steampunkworkshop.com/lcd.shtmlKeep us posted and good luck. Cheers, Nik P.S. are you going to employ the slot in the front for a slot load (laptop) DVD player? Looks like it would work perfect!

Candles, "Jake" does really nice work. I understand the lack of equipment needed to fab something like that but a trip to the craft store might score you a nice picture frame (or get one built to your specs) that you could attach to your monitor for a similar effect. It would definitely look sharp and a slide show screen saver would complete the effect when you weren't computing on it

Wow, that will make one compact computer. Any luck selling the AMD yet? Bet you are itching to get started.
