Hello all, I'm looking to get a new DVD burner for my hack and would like to go with a SATA interface. Anybody have a model they like? Pioneer has always worked for me but I'm open to any make. Thanks for the input.
Cheers, Chris

Looks good, I have a Toshiba but can't seem to find a pic. Good news with Leo is that all burners seem to be supported, if they do not have specific support then they show up with Generic support!

WoW! Great sugestions! Thank you Red, I'm afraid the Lite-On is a wee bit too pricey for me at the moment (several moment actually ) but I have had great luck with Pioneers DVR-111 in my G4 so I think I'll try that option. I just wish they came with cables, etc. Thanks again. Cheers, Chris P.S. Like the HL2 inspired Avatar

Red, I'm afraid the Lite-On is a wee bit too pricey for me at the moment (several moment actually ) Like i said, if i had the cash. I have one in my Quicksilver because the 109 drive i have in my Sawtooth is permanatly stuck at burning DVD's at 4X. It makes coasters if i burn higher. hehehe, yeah, good ol' G-Man. Very mysterious Government agent. Thanks for the compliment.

I always stick with Sony products when it come to Mac. 99% of the Time they work out of the Box.

I remember one time i went to Best Buy and i was looking at the Mac products they had in stock. One of the sales reps was having problems with the burning ability with a G5 and a Sony DVD-RW drive. Disc burning was giving some funky error message that either the media or the burner was wonky.
Just my 2 cents on Sony and mac.

Could have been a Bad Drive. I've had that happen once, but many years ago.

Bad drives are bound to happen considering the sheer volume produced. My Pioneer choice was driven by my luck with the 111DBK, Apples long use of that companies products as OEM (exactly the same reason Mac Pro users would go for Sony) , and various reviews and recomendations (Thanks Reddrag0n ). If it makes a coaster I'll RMA it. Newegg has never done me wrong. Cheers, Chris

I've always admired the cheaper LITE-ON and LG than the more pricey Pioneers and Toshiba. All LITE-ON and LG are recognized by OSX, iLife and can boot OS X CD's. I've never had any dead LITE-ON and LG yet.
