Here in Edmonton, i was criusing the used computer sites and i stumbled across this website. Now i don't know what this guy was thinking, but this is what he has to offer for computer parts that are mac. He has some other parts there too but none that i want to get. Remember, all these prices are in Canadian funds. 3 words come to mind.... WTF!!!!!

Quicksilver motherboard $40??? This would seem like rather good value! JJ have you built your Quicksilver yet, that board would be worth a pop.

I GOT THE PARTS!!!!!!
Cost me $120 CND for all! Case (modified for ATX Quicksilver), Quicksilver 2002 mobo, modded 344W PS, Heatsink, and authentic 10.4.6 dvd instal of Tiger with iWork trial disc.
EDIT. The reason i got this so cheap is because he was liquidating his mac parts. He still has a 15" ADC flat lcd, a geforce 2 32MB card modded with fan, and a few other parts.

Hey steve, that sonnet i bought off of you, will that work on a 133 fsb? I hooked it up in this QS and pressed the cuda for 5 sec. I get a startup chime, but no video. Also, i get a faint burning smell from the cpu. Is any of this a problem?

H'mm,
It was sold as 100MHz bus, it could work with 133, but would need the multiplyer taking down I would think. Don't know where that is on a sonnet though. 7455's don't like the air over 1.5 gigs, you're looking at 1.862 there. You need an 11 multiplyer. At the mo you are set at 14. Think it's a resistor change.

The cpu has a faint burnt plastic and metal smell to it, also when i touch the cpu, it feels like it's 100 degrees celcius. Really hot to the touch. I'm wondering if the board may be fried. The guy i bought it from says that everything works fine. I also did some apple troubleshooting and from what they say, i should reset the cuda, the pram and such. I get the chime, i get the fans and cd running, but no video. I have tried my 6200, my 5200 and a rage 128. All don't show video and the unit smells like it's overheating. Any ideas?

Is this only with the SONNET in place? Do you have another cpu?

Hey, Glad it is working, with that board, you should have some nice graphics card capabilities too, all the way up to 7800!

Yeah, that card would rock for gaming and video production. What i have to do now is quiet that little fan by the PS. The rest of the comp is quiet, but i can hear that fan clear as day.
Then buy a case, do a dual cd mod on it, and get a better processor.

Yeah,
Those little fans can be a tad noisey, if memory serves me well, they are 60 x 60 x 25 mm. There is always the chance of getting a quieter fan or one that is adjustable in voltage or just plain old use the 5v supply.

JJ, If you need a 60x60x25mm fan I have a Silenx model that I'd be happy to send you for shipping. It has the molex adapter and I think I can find the silicon mounts. I just don't know if the shipping is worth the cost of the fan, I gave about $14.00 for it and I used it for ten minutes(maybe) since it just won't fit in my DA like In thought it would. If you're interested let me know.
Cheers, Chris
