Still struggling with the opening system door from the G4 to adapt on the G5 case, but it is coming. In the meantime I made a standard exchange with Gotoh , and got a watercooling system. This one : www.thermaltake.com/product/Liguid/DIY/cl-w0005-01/cl-w0005-01.aspI got the crazy idea to use the plateform from a heatsink to connect the waterblock on the G4 Mobo. A lot of drilling, 5 days in fact. Still to make the inside hole shape nice and I will post some pictures.

You obviously enjoy a challenge! Good luck with the project and keep us posted. I look-forward to seeing more. By the way, the link in the first post is not working :-(

Thanks Ritalin. The link is working now. It was heavy the lasts weeks, and I am finishing my sixth night of shift. Usually it is three or four.I will need tomorrow to recap and from wednesday, I will test the watercooling system and go futher with the mods. It is nearly finished in fact, I tried different possibilities and solutions with the proto version; plexi panel from G4 AGP, final version will be Quicksilver/MDD, transparant plexi pannel for the back pannel and final version will be metal, easier to determine the contact points and easier to cut. I lowered the bottom pannel to include the watercooling and the separation pannel will be in plexi which leave the wat-cool-syst visible. As you can guess I relocated the PSU. Now waiting for the parts to start the final version. ;D

;DI got it right. This last WE, from friday to sunday night, I finally make it as I wanted. Then with the last rivets, I broke the piece of acrylic added to lift the plastic plate which will support the MOBO and I started again. Here are the two first pictures, the others are following with comments this week. forum.macbidouille.com/index.php?act=module&module=gallery&cmd=si&img=3730

I will not go to the end of the experience with the MDD, because I am selling my Mirror. I still have an extra MOBO with FW400 to sell. I will keep the G5 case and the G4 MDD opening system door to start my Hackintosh with watercooling. I have already attached the Gigabyte MOBO on the Door. Pictures are following ...

I have just finished the waterblock. It fits very well now in the heatsink modded platform. Still to make it shine with a metallic brush. Next week I will test the water system. Still the back pannel to finish. I used the PCI pannel from an old PC case. For the in/out pannel I am modding a piece of the door pannel. Pictures are following...

This is certainly coming together nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product. I really like the trap door feature. It was the best thing about the G4 case design, and it seems like a real engineering challenge bring it to the G5 case!

Thank you Ritalin and yes indeed I enjoy this challenge very much. I used four doors and three acrylic pannels as support for the Mobo before finding the right way. The back pannel is interessing too. I learned how to bend a metal plate with a rubber hammer. The holes are the same as the original ones but smaller. You will see on the pictures. I have to go to work now. I start tomorrow with the pictures .
