Hi everyone!
I'm new to this forum, and after searching for some days on the web for a solution, I decided to ask for your help.
I bought an ATI FireGl X3-256 (windows) to flash it for mac mainly because they can use their Digital ports after flashed, are single slot, have great performance for an AGP card and costed me 20€.
I tried flashing it on a PC with Atiflash 3.60 (and later 3.25) with the reduced 64K ROM for FireGL (ver 109) that is available on the themacelite wiki but after flashing it reported empty parameters on the new ID, new name, new PN. When I connect it to my mac, the screen was always black. I had screen sharing active so I could see the Mac desktop on other computer and realized that the ID was wrong. I edited the ROM on lines 3 and 8, so that the ID was 4A48 and this time flashed on the mac with Graphiccelerate. This time the boot logo appeared and it detected ok on system profile but I had some artifacts. In order to correct it, I had to lower the Memory frequency to 280MHz, which is far away from the 452MHz stock speed. The GPU is stable at the stock frequency of 492MHz. I must say that before flashing I tested it on a PC and it worked normally with the stock speeds so I guess it must have something to do with memory timings on the ROM.
The memories on my FireGl are made from Infineon, and after looking on their datasheet I found that they work between 250-500MHz and have a WR latency of 2.0ns. I think the standard X800 XT Mac edition had better memories that could go a little more than 500MHz and had a latency of 1.6ns and my memories are more like the ones found on the X800 Pro (but I'm not 100% sure on this part because I don't have one).
Since many of you have flashed with success an ATI FireGl X3, I would like to know if you had problems with the memory frequency, which brand/model/specifications of memory you had on yours and what ROM you used.
Thank you for you help,
José
