Greetings from Japan!
I want to replace the aluminum heatsink of my FW800 1.25 Dual with that from the 1.42 Dual with heatpipe but it's toooo expensive here. Are there any copper heatsink with heatpipe for Intel/AMD CPU that can be used in the MDD without too much modification? Thanks.

Hi Kenji and a warm welcome to aquamac forums! There is a fair bit of work required to get AMD/P4 heatsinks to mate up with Apple processors. Also they need to be outstanding coolers to work better than the stock coolers. How much are they asking for the 1.42 copper cooler, as I have one sitting in my garage on a shelf if you are interested, I'm sure I will do you a much better deal than a retailer. If you are good at metalwork then there are a number of options open to you. Have a look here for some ideas: www.aqua-mac.com/naturallyasperat.htmlwww.themacaddress.com/pnews.php?page=g4platewww.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/mdd_cooling_mods/MDD_cooling_mods.htmlAlso, don't forget if you use Nap with Tiger, it works fine, you will find temps improve dramatically.

Hi aquamac, thanks for the warm welcome Thanks also for offering your spare copper heatsink. Regarding the copper heatsink, the seller here is asking for around 70 British Pounds (converted from Japanese Yen). I don't know if you find it cheap already but here in Japan, it's still expensive. The problem is there are many Aluminum heatsink here and very few copper heatsink that's why the price is high. Anyway, how much are you willing to sell it? I notice you are living in England. My sister is living in Middlesex (I've been in the UK a couple of years back and I just love the Windsor Castle and countryside). If ever you will sell it to me for a bit lower price, I'll let my sister pay for it ;D Thank you so much aquamac. By the way, I'm going to add two 60 mm fans in the lower front of my MDD to push cool air into the case and two 80 mm fans at the rear to suck out warm air. Wish me luck.

Hi Kenji, How does £50 sound including P&P. Not to sure how much the P&P would be to Japan, for that weight to USA is around £18 if sent special delivery. This would mean I get about £32, which I think seems about right. Perhaps you have sent something to your sister or perhaps she may visit you? Anyway I think it cost around £75 when I bought it. You can see pics of it here: www.aqua-mac.com/aircoolingmddg4a.htmlBy the way, the max size fans you can fit at the back are really 60 mm, try & find quiet types. If you have HDD's at the front of your case you will need extra thin fans. I have a couple of these you can have & could put them in with the heatsink. If you don't have any HDD's at the front then you can use the same 60 x 60 x 25 mm fans as at the back.

I have no idea how much it will cost to send it here in Japan but you don't have to send it by special delivery. Even ordinary airmail would be fine so it will be cheaper and you get more. I'm not in a hurry anyway. I'll call my sister later tonight (I'm in school now) and tell her then I'll post soon. Thanks for the advice. However, the reason I bought the 80 mm fan is because I would mount it outside the case and not inside. The 60 x 60 x 25 will also be mounted outside the case just under the 4 holes of the front plastic panel. I've seen this mod somewhere . I'll take a photo of it and post it here. Of course, I will be glad if you can give me your thin fans. If my mod would not work, I can use it. Thank you so much again. I really appreciate your kindness.
